Adelman's Hate of the 18 year veteran

Post#1 » by ioke » Sat Apr 4, 2009 11:05 pm

dikembe mutombo, anyone know why adelman hates him so much and why yao needs to suffocate playing over 40 minutes?

I think RA does not understand yao nor does he care about winning. Why is Yao on the high post all the time? BTW yao was mad after he was benched the last 4.5 mins against LA.

Anyway deke sighting tomorrow's game? Oden gives deke some reason to matchup right?

I know the Blazers are the slowest team in the league, but don't bet on it. Dikembe is in Adelman's doghouse simply due to old age and his lack of familiarity on Adelman's motion offense. And last night, Yao could have been more effective had Adelman sat him out in late 3rd quarter and brought him back in the middle of the 4th quarter. Maybe he felt the need to keep Yao in the game as the Lakers were stretching their lead. But as the results indicated, he made a huge mistake.

We can only hope for Landry's return because Adelman isn't going to fix his big-men-rotation anytime soon.

is adelman gonna use a center next year if we get a younger scoring one?

If we do see deke tomorrow night its either 1. oden is on fire 2. yao is hurt 3. adelman plans to use for 5 mins...

since adelman is so slow to adjust oden will probably score a lot of pts before deke is in if that scenario happens and we are down 10 he finally calls a time out while artest and AB and wafer do the ball hogging and miss 5 shots in a row...

rockets are so predictable now in offense and RA...

do we think RA will be back next year if we don't make it past the first round? Or will injuries take the blame again?

If Mutts was in Adelman's doghouse, mightn't Mutombo have a more negative attitude instead of being the biggest cheerleader/coach on the bench? Not too sure that's the right look at it. Still fairly sure he's being saved as an insurance policy this year, and used sparingly due to his age and the abundance of other options.

Moreover, and more importantly, how many times does this thread have to be made in various forms over the course of this season? There's only 5 games left. All you ballboys better hurry up and make 7 more of them if you want to hit your quota of 30 by season's end. Slackers.

Maybe we can sticky a "why isn't [insert player here] playing/starting" thread next year?

My understanding of Deke coming back, was more for helping Yao in practice, and Locker room leadership. I think Deke is more like an active coach, so to speak. Let's face facts, Deke isn't going to get up and down the floor any quicker than Yao. and is pretty much an offensive liability. RA is more likely to go with Scola in the middle to defend, or Chuck Hayes. They suit a more up tempo offense. There is a lot of talk about how Yao is a fairly good passer of the ball. RA is using him for passing to back cutters, drawing the D, so Battier and Artest can flare out to the wings, and then making a secondary cut low. I understand the theory, even if the practical is not working exactly as it, well, "theoretically" should. Unfortunately it is a bit late in the seaon to start implementing an entirely new offense, and it does work when ran properly, I've seen it in games this season.

Are backup squad is built to run and DM isn't. Like already mentioned...he was more of an insurance policy and locker room guy, and if things get nasty in a slow halfcourt series with a team, him being fresh and those brutal elbows could help. I just hate how he went from starting on most of that 22 game win streak...to getting zero minutes. Could you imagine Ron and Shane filtering everything into him, it would be great in a nasty halfcourt game! I also hate that Yao minutes aren't really reduced. You'd think after the 7'6 chinamen suffers a stress fracture that they'd layoff the minutes a little more the next season...oh well.
