I want Portland based on our last home game

Yao will school Oden, Roy shut down by Artest or Battier.

Lets get out of 1st round!

If I had to choose one, it would be Portland. I like our chances against them.

1. They're the least experienced group out of the bunch.
2. If it weren't for Roy's buzzer-beater, we would've swept them in the regular season.
3. They're one of the slowest teams in the league. We match up well against them.

Just avoid Utah. That team scares me.

They will under-perform (somewhat) in the regular-season, but then get it together in the playoffs.

We will be definitely competitive in any series we play, but Portland/NO/Dallas would be nice match-ups for us.

I would like Utah, to shove a series up their bungholios!!!! but realisically, I'd say Portland, (seems the general consensus too.) I respectfully disagree that Landry is at best, an over achieving role player. I think that given a couple of more years in the league, he could develop into a very Charles Barkley like player. He has the misfortune of being stuck behind Scola, (Who I think is great, and deserves his starting spot 100%) and is a bubble player, on the verge of exploding into greatness, or poppong before he peaks. He just needs to extend his range, and his consistency with range, and work on first step explosiveness. His athletic ability will take care of the rest. Let's face it. The "Great PF's" in the Western conference are not getting any younger, (Nowitski, Duncan.) and it is a great oppurtunity for some young guys like Landry, Love, West, Stoudamire, Scola, Gasol to really step up and stake a claim as the West's best PF.

I like the match up with Portland in the first round as well but I want to see the Rockets get the #3 spot. That would most likely mean we play New Orleans in the first round which Im ok with as well. If we get #3 then that would mean we wouldnt have to face the Lakers till the WCF.

I'd go:
1) POR (they play our pace and don't have great PGs)
2) DEN (they play a faster pace but we match up well defensively)
3) NO (no bench plus Yao matches up well with Chandler but CP3 will torture us)
4) UTAH (I think we could beat Utah if we had homecourt & T-Mac was healthy because they have issues with scoring wings but even if we do matchup w/ Utah again it'll be competitive).

My Pick,

1. Portland; slow like us which helps us with Yao, great matchups.
2. New Orleans; have no depth at bench, only problem is cp3 which is not to hard to handle.
3. Denver; good matchups, only problem is their bigs are very athletic which will give fits

I'd take NO. I thought Portland at first but 2 things come to mind after watching their game with the Spurs tonight.

1) I haven't seen a team that young that is so efficient in the half court. It's actually pretty astounding if you ask me.
2) They are VERY athletic.

I want to play the Jazz. Or at the very least meet them in the 2nd round.

Why? Because they are the reason we haven't gotten out of the first round the last few seasons. If the Rockets or the fans are scared of them... that is a terrible attitude going in to the playoffs. You need to be confident and ready to face the toughest challenges. Beating the Jazz in the 1st or 2nd round will give the Rockets a HUGE confidence booster.

If we do not face the Jazz in the playoffs and we get farther than them, they and their fans can still talk trash. I would like to silence that. If the Jazz beat the Rockets in the playoffs again... then it just means the Rockets are still not ready, and getting to the 2nd round might be a small victory... but losing in the 2nd would still be losing.

To me it would be empty if we don't play the Jazz.

LA and DEN are virtual locks are the top 2 seeds and DAL either @ the 7th or more likely 8th seed, so it looks like we're going to be playing either POR, SA, NO, or UTAH.

Personally, I think the whole 'first round exit' monkey on HOU's backs is more important to get rid of than any revenge on UTAH. That said that doesn't mean I don't think we can't beat them, especially with homecourt. The series in '06 came down to the wire in gm7, and in '07 Yao was down so we didn't stand much of a chance.

In a perfect world i would like to face portland and smoke them in the first i think we match up best against them. Then in the second round I want to face utah with homecourt advantage. Is that too much to ask for????

Yao and raefor were down, not a big raefor fan but last season he was very effective and important to the team during that stretch. Also battier and Mcgrady were playing needing off season surgeries. Utah was not missing one player and we still made it a series. Just a reminder

They are 2-2 on the season series, they would have the exact same division record and the exact same conference record. I forgot what occurs here

Would Adelman play Popovich in a game of one on one?

To answer your question, it will come down to the following in the order of precedence:
1. Head-to-head record.
2. Division record.
3. Conference record.
4. Record against playoff opponents in own conference (including teams that finished the regular season tied for a playoff position).
