What Was Kerr's Biggest Mistake as GM?

Post#1 » by The Diesel » Wed Apr 8, 2009 7:34 am

Hey guys,

Kerr has obviously done a TERRIBLE job as GM of the Suns and has made many mistakes.

If you had to pick one move he's made, which would you say has been the worst and why?

Here are his mistakes:

- Trading Marion for Shaq

- Running out D'Antoni

- Hiring Terry Porter

- Trading Bell and Diaw for Richardson

- Drafting Lopez and Dragic who have not contributed much this year

To me, it's without a doubt running out D'Antoni.

What do you guys think?

If you pick the Marion/Shaq trade, it's important to remember a few things:

- Kerr was reluctant to make the deal

- Shaq has played better than Marion this year.

- The Suns had a bad record last year with Marion against the elite teams before the big trade and played VERY well with Shaq towards the end of last season.

Which has been his biggest mistake, in your opinion?

1. Kurt Thomas + 2 Unprotected first round draft picks for nothing

2. Terry Porter

3. Lopez

In that order.

Porter obviously had the biggest impact on the team, but nothing labels you a (Please Use More Appropriate Word) GM like giving away your present and future for financial relief.

6. Lopez+Alando being his first round picks
7. Trading Strawberry

It depends on how much he's responsible for.

If it was his idea to trade KT and 2 fight round picks, then that obviously wins. It's a double whammy. Two horrible moves in one.

Hiring Terry Porter was not nearly as bad as waiting way way too long to fire him.

But then that's not as bad as trading away Bell and Diaw because if were capable of playing better defense, we'd probably be in the playoffs even with the Terry Porter being the coach for too long issue.

People seem to have forgotten that Kerr has 5 NBA championship rings.
Guy is a winner. He understands the game. He just couldn't predict the future
that Amare would be out.

Kerr is no magician in healing leg injury.

MJ won six rings and his understanding of the game and ability to be a 'winner' didn't really come into play when he drafted Kwame, did it?

Isaiah's a winner, but he's widely regarded as one of the worst GM's of all time.

biggest mistake? Being hired. Getting the job in the first place. Absolutely ridiculous how he drove this team through the ground.

there's too many mistakes, the list can go on and on. The question can easily be answered by asking " What has Kerr Done Right as a GM"? the answer. NOTHING.

Eh, Grant Hill, making CHA give up Dudley(in an otherwise terrible trade), Matt Barnes(I don't like him but he's not bad for the vet min), drafting Strawberry(then he trades him b/c he's stupid).

So it wasn't ALL bad, and Goran's looking more and more competent by the day.

i was being sarcastic by saying NOTHING. lol. yeah we got a steal in Barnes that's for sure and JDudley is looking very promising. I would like to give Dragic about 30/game the final 4 games to see what he's really made of. Other than that there's is more wrong moves than good moves in Kerr's part. I don't think you can argue against that.

Okay,

You folks seem to hate Kerr. If you had a chance to voice your opinion, right in front of
Kerr, what would you tell him? (You can only say 1 line)

Does it make you feel like less of a man when Jerry Buss took a backup center and 2 firsts and turned it into Pau Gasol 3 months after you only turned them into -8million dollars?

or

Do you, or did you ever, have a plan?
