Not too surprising, and not a disaster. Jordan certainly isn't my main preference, but he's somebody that can be around to at least kind of help the team get on track over the next couple of years. He'll never coach a true contender though.

Although having said that, I don't fully trust the validity of these reports.

It's just that the guy has a horrible coaching record. Would you rather have somebody who's proven that they can't win, or take ur chance with unproven person who may surprise you.

That's what I have in mine. Maybe we can trade Kenny Thomas, Beno, and expirings for Lowry and Adelman.

I like it. Eddie is very good with his big guys and got the most out of Antawn Jamison. We need an offensively strong guy to get the most out of this group. Natt is a defensive coach and not a fit with the talent of this group. Eddie has been a rookie already and won't make the rookie mistakes Natt/Theus/Muss were making and is not expensive. He got fired like Theus when his best player went down so he is very good selection. I would have maybe prefered Avery or Saunders from Detroit who Minny will get but Jordan is a solid selection.

other than Flip I don't see any better coaches out there. I'm fine with Eddie, its got to be better than where we've been.

Adelman has a .500+ record when he worked with Petrie and a lottery bound record when he coached without him as the GM. Petrie will get the most out of the guy. Jordan made the playoffs in the East 4 years in a row and the past 3-4 years the East has creeped up and overtaken the West Powerhouses. His first 2 years here he sucked because we sucked in 96-98 and the first year in Washington before he turned them around.

I'm game, because when the GM and Coach are on the same page it just runs so much smoother. That's why letting Adelman go was such a colossal mistake on the Maloofs part.

No doubt. They are finally all on the same page again. I want Jordan to make sure Hawes-JT both get close to equal touches which will help the ball movement. I think that comes when you know you are going to get your touches you feel more trust to get other guys involved and it opens the paint for the guards. I am excited for next year before the draft. He will get the most out of the PG we draft and what if we luck out and get Griffin and move JT to the 3. Man this will be a tough team to beat in the future even with no Griffin.

It was the Adelman/Bibby combo change that killed us. I remember the game when Bibby got the shot hit on him for the other team to win for the first time and the Mallofs were ticked off. We need a killer instinct PG like Bibby.

I don't know if he's an ideal fit, but he's clearly a much better choice than any of the guys we've had since Adelman.

Jordan is well versed in the Princeton system that Petrie builds his team around. He will have the players to coach the system he knows and will have the support of management. If he and Petrie put together an assistant coaching staff that fill his weak spots, then this can be successful. I say keep Jason Hamm and SAR around...replace everyone else.

I think it can be successful to a degree, but it's not just defense where Jordan is below average. He is also known for irrational attachments to given players and generally poor rotations.

FLIP SAUNDERS??? wow how could that name be in the minds of some of you here. That guy isn't nothing special at all; imho he's a complainer and for a coach he worries toooo much!

Eddie, meh, he's a name..but is he the coach for us? I think he'll do well here though. And I endorse what smills said about the gm and coach relationship -- things go so smoothly when they are on the same page.

Personally, I'd much rather Brian Shaw coach. And you mix him with some great veteran assistant coaches, so that we can have a well balance coaching squad in total.

But if Eddie's the man, id like the coaching to look like this.

Eddie- Head coach
Paul Silas- Lead assistant
Mario Ellie- Assistant
Coachie- Assistant

Eddie and Coachie are the Princeton Offense guru's and a duo of these guys would be ideal! Silas is really hungry to get back into the coaching role. He'd be the guy that keeps the ship steady and knows defense. Maybe not known for it, but he did a good job when he was around. Mario Ellie is that coach all the players love and can relate to him.

I dont want Brian Shaw anywhere near us, he isnt even the lead assistant on the Lakers and he retired like what...4 years ago? Hell no, im done with the inexperienced coaches. 3 years in a row of this crap and i am done. It doesnt have to be Eddie Jordan but it must be someone that has been a head coach in this league and someone who will be on the same page with geoff petrie.

Well, if this happens it's certainly nothing close to a shocker for me! Everyone wanted a Petrie pick, and this is pretty much the guy Petrie has wanted from day 1. Question is, will Jordan leave the comfort of his home to coach is team?

In the past I have been critical about Jordan and I'm still critical about him but I wouldn't be too against the hiring though if we are going to hire Jordan.

I wrote about this possible scenario a while back and I'm still sticking with my stance.

It just makes too much sense though. Petrie never wanted Jordan gone and was pretty pissed when he was fired. Also the Kings can give Jordan a better roster for his chosen style of play.
