Buffalo is still in it, all be it slightly

Essentially, NYR and Florida has to lose both their games,

While Buffalo has to win their remaining 2 in order to get in

Aka, it's a long shot

Tie breakers are

1. Points (obviously)
2. wins
3. season series points (if the teams played each other an odd number of times, then the team with the extra home game will not have those points count for them which is the 1st one)
4. Greatest difference between goals for and goals against for each team

So if all 3 (florida, nyr and buffalo) are tied at the end of the year then...

Florida is eliminated on wins and Buffalo is eliminated by points in the season series with the Rangers

hmmm, that means that the Sabres would be eliminated now... i still need to figure this out

Maybe you should be concentrating on those finals that have started up instead ;) Had my first one today... gotta love it.

had my first yesterday... we'll see how that went

anyways i figured out my problem

I miss read the first game of the season series between the Sabres and Rangers

so Sabres won 3 and lost 1 givng them 6 points, while Rangers went 1-2-1 against them giving them 3

So yeah if the Rangers lose both game and the Sabres win then they get in on the 2nd tie break of season points against the rangers

It's still a long shot

Score might be 4-4, but both goalies have made some nice highlight making saves in this game.

PLAYOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFS! WOOT! Great game great game. Stupid move by Lappy there, but he'll remember it and learn not to do it again. Right now it's B's vs. Habs in the playoffs! We'll see if it stands.

Oh it will be Boston and Montreal, I can feel it. I just hope Montreal doesn't do what boston did to them last year.

I absolutely hope we do what we did the last time we were the 8 and Boston was the 1 ;) With these two, no matter the seed...It's going to be a siiiiiick series.

Will update at the end of the night, but the East 8 is set unfortunately. Nothing against the Habs and the Rangers (ok, maybe a little against the Rangers), but I've always been a fan of the Panthers and if any franchise east of Phoenix needs a playoff appearance is them. They've been so damn close the last three seasons, too.

I really hope it's Habs-Bruins in the first round. One of the best series in last year's playoffs was their matchup.

Now they're going to lose Bouw too.

Well, to be fair I never said they'd make it in. I said it'd be stupid to trade Bouwmeester when a shot at the playoffs was still there.

To be honest, I always thought Florida was playing out of their minds when they were on that hot streak. They leveled off and it cost them big time.

The injury bug seemed to hit them after the trade deadline as well, but not nearly enough to make them play as bad as they did down the stretch.

All games are done for the night, big doings.

East-
-Behold your final 8 teams. Montreal and New York (the Rangers, not the Islanders. If you actually considered that, even for a second, may death come upon you) take the last two spots, leaving Florida and Buffalo in their dust. Are you ready for the Draft, Legion Of Doom?!?!?!
-Sigh...oh Panthers. How about you at least get over that hump ala Nashville so the NHL doesn't contract you?
-Lots of races up for grabs. 4-5-6 all tied with 97 points, 7-8 tied with 93. Let's get rrrrready to rrrrrumble.

West-
-Not much happened tonight out West. Nashville won, so they're tied with St. Louis (again) for 8th. Seriously, just flip a damn coin.
-Vancouver won, they now lead the Northwest. A 1-0, scintillating victory of the LA Kings.

Just 4 games tomorrow, but all four teams battling for 7-8 in the West are in action, not too mention Calgary gets their chance to answer (please don't answer. You're such a better matchup than the Canucks).
