ESPN poll
If you go to ESPN.com they have a SportsNation poll asking who will play in the NBA Finals...the choices are:
1) Lakers and Cavaliers
2) Lakers but not Cavaliers
3) Cavaliers but not Lakers
4) Neither
I personally voted for Lakers but not Cavaliers..the funny this is look at the results map...ONLY the 5 true New England states (since CT is more like a suburb of NYC) voted for Lakers but not Cavs (obviously we think the C's will be there)...the entire rest of the country voted for option #1...
The C's really are getting no respect, NO chance, eh?

Going into the playoffs, Most everybody thought the C's were going to go to the Finals, if not all the way.
The poll seems reasonable. They put up the number 1 seeds.

Re: ESPN poll
The more things change, the more they remain the same.
When we were absolutely dominating the league, winning championship after championship, we got no respect. How could we possibly stop Chamberlain?
They only see offense, flash and glitz of the individual star. They only see Bryant and James and never the team defense.
Cleveland has great team defense and they are going to be tough. I'm homer and think we'll beat them.

Re: ESPN poll
Honestly, what do you all expect? Cleveland is like a juggernaut. I'd think fans were stupid not to pick Cleveland... and I don't really think the Celtics deserve to be "given respect" at this point. We'll have to earn it with great playoff play. Not that I as a fan don't think we can make it to the finals, but that you can't expect fans from all over the country to come to that conclusion, especially with Cleveland having beaten us pretty good this year.

I wouldn't say they're stupid for not picking them. Just that it is perfectly reasonable for most voters to pick them

Well, maybe "stupid" is a strong word. I just mean that if you are a betting man... you pick Cleveland to win over the Celtics.

Re: ESPN poll
My beef isn't in that Cleveland is favored, it's in the fact that the media is actively pushing for Cleveland vs LA...the way they actively rooted against the Pats in the Super Bowl against the Giants...shameful...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

You mean Cleveland being 1-2 against us including a loss when we didn't have KG? At best they'll have a 2-2 record with KG out in 2 of the games.
As for the rest of the post, sure, I don't expect a non-Celtics fan to vote for us, just as I wouldn't expect a non-Spurs fan to have voted for them in their last 2 championship runs.

Re: ESPN poll
At least some love for the C's here
http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/9438 ... 7t-persist
although he's wrong that without KG the C's are the 3rd best team in the East...aren't we holding off Orlando without KG?

Re: ESPN poll
Hehe... I knew I oopsed on that one
Either way, that is what the media does, why even bother with the media, if their job is just to hype things up?
The Cavs record is reallly good. They are playing great. I love the Celtics and I'm in no way saying we're going to lose, but it makes plenty of sense to me that Cleveland is seen in a better light.
We lost to Lakers twice. They broke I think TWO of our streaks. We don't look that good. It's simple. "Look" being the operative word. We'll see soon enough, though.
All this "Ohhh the media don't love us" stuff is lame. Who cares.

And by "look" that good, I mean we don't look like 1 or 2. We look like maybe 3rd best in the league. "Look" is the operative word. We'll see soon

Re: ESPN poll
I don't care what anyone says. I think we are better than last year. Obviously, Cleveland is too. Rondo has improved by leaps and bounds. He will handle Mo Williams. Williams has been huge for Cleveland this year. They are not much different outside of that, and I think Rondo's improvement is more substantial than the addition of Williams. Rondo will have to live inside of Mo's shirt for that whole series. What other guard in the whole league would you have over Rondo to handle this task defensively?
Ray Allen played poorly against Cleveland last year because they almost box and one him, taking him completely out of his sweet spots. Last year, Ray was more of a spot up shooter for this team. This year he has a bigger role on offense that involves tweener shots and more driving. I believe he will be able to be effective doing this on Delonte. Delonte is a good defender, but he would need 1 or 2 more inches to be able to kill Ray's shot. Also, Doc has put in better plays to get Ray good looks off of screens and in open space. The Ray factor is HUGE.
If Garnett looks 90% in round 2, I'll bet the house on the Celtics against the Cavs. The only thing that would scare me at that point is the Crawford, Bavetta, and Salvatore factor.

No sure why you guys are getting worked up so much. I don't think there is any team out West that can stop the Lakers from getting to the finals.
The Cavs have the best record in the league and will have home court advantage throughout the playoffs. Plus they're playing excellent basketball as a unit.
I completely understand why everyone is picking those two teams.
