Who is better: BABY or POWE?

Simple, who do you guys think is a better player and can help the C's more?

Perhaps one day we're going to have to let go of one of them ... hopefully not.

Powe was playing great in KG's absence, and then Baby had his chance to step in and play and he's been solid too, so who do you prefer?

I must say I can go either way, but Baby's jump shooting is becoming very useful for us.

Leon Powe. More win shares, higher TS%, higher REB%, better def. rating and the better defender. Glen has more range and is probably the better passer, but that's about it.

I'm going with BBD for the better all around player. Powe is a better rebounder and low post player, but Baby does everything else better. BBD has a higher BBIQ (which is why Doc trusts him more than Powe in critical situations.... even as a rookie he trusted BBD in clutch situations over Powe). BBD is a better defender and passer. And BBD just flat out hustles his arse off every second he's on the court and makes clutch plays, whether it be a clutch rebound, pass or shot. BBD also complements the big men better because of his outside shot he can complement any big man we put on the floor with him. And, as we can see also because of his outside shot, he can be trusted to play big minutes in place of KG when he's hurt or when he just needs to play less minutes to reserve his body for the playoffs.

You can't judge BBD by looking at his stats, you have to watch the games. He is truly a player whose value can't be measured by stats. He truly does the little things that help teams win. Reminds me of Posey in that regard (where stats don't tell you what he does to help the team). There were a few games where his box score didn't look good at all, but he was one of the better players on the floor because of his hustle plays. You very often see BBD dive on the floor for loose balls with zero hesitation

I don't see why we can't keep both though. When one isn't playing well, it's nice to have the option of playing the other.

Another reason for Baby over Powe? Baby has two healthy knees.

Powe. Powe is a better defender, rebounder, and scorer. As far as the BBIQ crap goes. He gets like 1.5 assists per 36 mins and plays face up basketball. I love how his fan boys paint him like Magic Johnnson for that..

I like them both, but if I have to pick which one is better, it would have to be Leon.

On defense, they are pretty equal. On offense, Leon is a true "back to the basket" low post player. He shoots a very high percentage, and gets tons of "and 1's". BBD has gotten better as the year has gone on because he has started to hit the mid range jumper, teams have had to respect that and it has opened up the lane to the basket.

Don't kid yourself, the reason BBD plays off the bench with the starters before Leon isn't because BBD is the better player. It's because of rotations. Leon can create his own offense and is the designated low post scorer on the second team. The Celts use him in the low post to either go to the basket and score, or pick up the double team and kick it out to the perimeter for an open look.

Although Leon is a risk due to his knee's, BBD is potentially an offseason and only a few biscuits away from being a Tractor Traylor.

I would like to see us sign both players in the offseason, but with the economy the way it is, I am not sure we can afford to do that. There are not that many true low post players in the game today, so to me Leon is more valuable than BBD and should be our first option.

I think a lot of teams around the league will be scrambling to reduce payroll this offseason (ala Orlando, Washington, etc.) to get below luxury tax range, and we could see a lot of FA's getting squeezed and taking much lower $ deals. It will create a lot of options for those teams who are willing to spend the money. Are we one of those teams? I don't know.

Assuming we stay with the same salary range we were at this year, then we will need to sign Leon and BBD in the $2.5 to 3 Mil range each to keep both of them.

From an outsider's perspective, I'm more worried about containing Powe when he's on the floor. He's a better scorer in the low post, always finishes with contact, and is just always active. So if you had to choose, I would take Powe. Also, he's only 2 years older than Davis.

But why can't he just sign both?

I like both these guys, and they both bring something different to this team and would like to see both kept. If we are a team in need of more size, then Davis is the better player to keep as the size we bring in would be to take what Powe brings for this team. It will be very tough to part with either and with Moore here and re-signed next year you can keep both and have a nice 5 man rotation to match up with.

I don't see either as someone through whom you want to run an offense.

Agains tregular season benches i'd take powe. But come playoff time I think baby's outside shots makes him a better complimentary player... I honestly think that if you properly scout powe you can limit him a lot more than Davis.

Powe is a proven play off weapon. His toughness doesn't go M.I.A. in the clutch. He's tough as nails, smart, professional, timely, I can't say enough about the guy.

That said, I love big baby. Big baby's got dancers feet and has developed a killer outside shot (that I thought he would never be able to pull off consistently, but has). Great passer, hustles after loose balls; makes court side seating a dangerous place to be.

Powe gets the slight edge because he has proven he can win games in the playoffs. Powe's game isn't as finessed as baby's but it gets results. Until baby proves that he can hit that outside shot in the play offs, get those big offensive rebounds in the clutch when its do or die, Powe will have the edge.

Equal. They both do different things well. Both are role players. Both project as bench players on good teams/fringe starters on lower-level teams. One has the outside game, one has the inside game. Both have weaknesses and blind spots. Ideally, both will be utilized situationally.

More will be known after these playoffs. Both players have a lot to prove. Both players should be brought back on Eddie House type deals.

Baby is the better all around basketball player. He is no Magic Johnson, but can pass better than Powe, shoot from range better than Powe and make FT's better than Powe.

And it's not like Baby can't score in the low post or convert "and-1's". And it's not like Baby doesn't rebound or can't get those clutch hustle rebounds, because he does.

Powe is just the better low post player.

Big Baby is a better starter than Powe but Powe is a better bency player. I would take both.

Yes, the never-ending arguement...

I'm happy to have both Leon and Baby. They each bring something to the table but if we had to keep only one I'll take Powe since good post offense+defense are hard to find these days. He's also the better rebounder. Still, Baby is turning into a heck of a player. Very solid bench weapon. Heart, energy and a good inside/outside game - people around the league are starting to take notice. Amazingly there are still some blind mice on this board who'll have you think that he's pretty much on the same level as Mikki... How sad.

Davis is better against good players.

Or to be more accurate, replace bad with 'undersized.'

Like em both, but BBD by a small margin for me. He just does more when he is on the floor than Leon, and is a better athlete. I'm a huge Powe fan though just off toughness, but Baby has more upside, IMO.

I think that Powe has been the better player but Big Baby is improving at a very fast rate. Also, Big Baby has had some big games against players like Shaq and Duncan and that is impressive. I want to see whose game tranlates to the playoffs and my concern is that both players are very likely to struggle when the intensity and effort of more skilled players matches theirs.
