Celtics clinch 2nd seed with Orlando loss

Post#1 » by MVP16 » Sun Apr 12, 2009 1:57 am

Orlando losses to New Jersey tonight and that ensures the Celtics the #2 seed. This was all but a formality after us beating Miami and Orlando losing to New York last night. This is good for the Celtics though because we can sit some players for the last few games. I say play the whole roster against Cleveland as a final playoff tune-up, and then rest Pierce/Allen/Rondo the last 2 games (and Perkins if he needs it). Give extended minutes to Marbury, TA, Powe if he comes back, Baby, Moore and Walker. Pierce has played in every game this season so he really needs some rest, Rondo has been suffering from ankle injuries and Allen will needs his legs for the long playoff run. We should still play KG the last game if he's healthy so that he can shake off some rust.

Pierce and Allen and Rondo had better not play more then 20 mpg the last 3 games, cleavland should be resting their guys too if their smart, but if not lets not risk people not being fresh for the playoffs, who knows what % healthy kg will be, if he is only 85% we will need extra effort from rondo, pierce and allen to win the title

Hope he is alright, never want to see someone hurt. Ankle injuries are tough to get a read on, sometimes it looks bad at first, but then the player comes back in a day or two (like Rondo did). Sometimes the player is out for a month (like what happened to Al a few years ago). Hopefully it's more like the former then the latter in Hedo's case.

orlando is pretty banged up. Hedo and Reddick both left tonight's game with injuries, Lewis didn't play with knee tendonitis, and them Pietrus hurt his ribs. Let's hope they have a long and tiring 1st round series, and that we get our guys back and in shape before they do.

PS - No reason at all to play any of the starters mor than 24 minutes. I'm looking forward to tomorrows game but if Doc doesn't rest people I will be a little surprised and upset.

Cleveland is still going for home court vs. LA. If they lose to us tomorrow and LA wins, their lead is only 1 game.

Well, Clev can only TIE the record---but the 86 Celtics ARE the BEST team EVER....so, I don't want this sissy "get every call" team to tie them....Plus, the 86 team went undefeated at home in the playoffs and won a Championship----NO way this Cavs team does that.

I want to win in PHI, because they can still finish 7th and I would love to play them in the first round...

I want the guys to play, they already has a 4 day lay-off before the Heat game and after Wednesday they will have another 3 days off until they play again on Sunday. I want these guys to be sharp going into the play-offs. The only game I could see them resting in Tuesday game. However the starters should play Wednesday games.

So much for that, sadly...but it doesn't mean much..."get every call", you're correct...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!
