McGrady Injury Report?

Post#1 » by Mecca » Wed Apr 8, 2009 7:37 pm

Hey, Knicks fan here. I'm a big T-Mac fan, and I have him in the pick a team game in the Knicks forum. Will he be ready for next year? How will his production be?

Thanks....

he has never fully completed a season before...
shows signs of quit more often than brilliance this season...

maybe he might change next season, i don't know - but i will not hold my breath.

Maybe he might be even done in Houston...

Yep contract year. He says he wants one more big contract. He may not get it but if he can play....I think we'll see more of the vintage McGrady than the bad one.

Assume a pretty rapid recovery at 8 months,at least a month, prob 2 getting in basketball shape, some practices w/the team,it's Dec at the earliest, most likely Jan,before McGrady would be getting major minutes.
Optimistic Scenario:
We're likely looking at him missing the first 8-10 weeks of the season. McGrady will prob get some 30-35 minutes a game, his scoring will be down to @18-20ppg(better shooting % offsetting lesser minutes a bit),his assists will be up(Brooks,Scola's improved jump shot,Landry's developing outside shot,Lowry's better ability to finish inside will all provide more assist opportunities)and the rest of his stats will be lower a tad reflecting fewer minutes.

I doubt he comes back that early and play major minutes. I think after the allstar game he will be back.

I doubt he's even back next season, maybe after the trade deadline, maybe.

In all honesty, if we do anything in the playoffs....can resign Artest for anything reasonable. Tmac and his expiring contract will be gone before he can suit up again. For that reason, it might put a fire under his butt and he might perform...or if he goes to a crappy team, you'll see T-mac like he was in his last days on the Raptors, Magic, and this season for the Rockets.....a pile of shi_t

I won't be sad to see the back of him.

The only real problem is his bloated contract. If we can find a team stupid enough to allow us to unload his contract, I say we do it. I am not going to sit here and hate on McGrady, that is pointless. I really just think that he is done in Houston. I actually find it kind of ironic now that no one, except for Tyronn Lue is still active as a player in this league from that "Trade" I still hate from all those years ago.

Juwan Howard plays for Charlotte.

T-Mac is an expiring contract. No need to look for a 'stupid' team. If all else fails we can see how he will be after the trade deadline, and possibly just let him expire.
