C's might have to play back to back .....

Post#1 » by Kefa461 » Sat Apr 11, 2009 12:31 pm

The Celtics are keeping tabs on the National Hockey League these days, since results of the Bruins and Montreal Canadiens games could determine the Green's first-round playoff schedule.

The Celtics are set to play first-round home games Saturday April 18 and Monday April 20. If the Bruins meet Montreal in the first round, Game 2 of that series would be Saturday night to fill a "Hockey Night in Canada" time slot. That would set the Celtics' playoff opener at 12:30 p.m. that day.

Game 2 of the Celtics series will be before April 21 to avoid conflicting with Bruce Springsteen concerts at TD Banknorth Garden. There is also a chance the Celtics could play Sunday and Monday.

"The NBA has done it and we've done it - if you have to do it you do it," Doc Rivers said of the possibility of scheduling playoff games on successive days. "Both teams have to do it. Obviously, with our injuries, it could hurt us more. But I'm not thinking about that."

it's amazing that after all these years we still have these scheduling problems. we had them in the old garden and as i recall the Bruins always gpt first dibs there and now it's happening again.

1. The Bruins are already in the playoffs.
2. The Bruins owner owns the building.

No surprise here. My guess is that the Celtics get the Saturday 12:30 pm time slot and then play Monday night as well.

If we end having to play back-to-back (Sunday/Monday) I will not be a happy camper. KG especially needs a day off between games. I might be wrong, but I don't think there was one back-to-back scenario last season during the playoffs...for any of the playoff teams. I'd hate to see it happen this season on account of the Bruins...
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

What were they thinking letting Springsteen have those nights in the first place? Guy has always been overrated to me.

On WEEI, it was implied that fans might get treated to an old fashion double header. Is that a possibility? That is, Bruins and Celtics play on the same day at different times.

I think Bruce Springsteen is just awful. This just makes me like him even less.

Well, Pamela Springsteen wasn't bad in both Sleepaway Camp sequels, parts two and three.

FWIW the bruins schedule game out. And game 2 is on saturday at 8. That could mean double-header with the C's playing at 12:30.

They might not play well in day games, but it's better then playing two in a row.

The C's have always gotten shafted when it comes to the Garden...the Bruins have owned it for DECADES...

Hahahaha....

To see them gag against the Canadiens would not surprise me at all...it's Yankees/Red Sox (pre-2004) all over again...

I don't hate the Bruins, I just don't really care for them...I'm glad they're doing well, for once in a while, but I want to see them make some noise in the playoffs before I get too worked up...I got burned bad in the late 1980s/early 1990s with them!

I got sucked in last year with that exciting series against Montreal, which I still think they should have and could have won...

It'd be nice to see them turn the tables this year!

I dont hate the bruins I just hate the scheduling conflicts with the celtics. Ive never watched hockey I guess it would be nice to see the bruins win it all just as long they dont cause anymore scheduling conflicts
