Scal or Walker on playoff roster?

Post#1 » by Red2 » Sat Apr 11, 2009 2:27 pm

Assuming that Leon,KG and Scal are all available for the playoffs it's a no brainer that KG and Leon will bump Pruitt to the inactive roster ( with Giddens) but what about Walker? Scal is always going to be one charge away from getting another concussion. If we put Scal on the playoff roster and he goes down are we allowed to dress Walker or do we have to go with 11 guys? If someone knows the rule on this I'd like to hear it but I think you're stuck with the roster you select. So do you gamble on Scal or do you keep walker on the roster knowing that he's in shape and can give you 6 fouls against LeBron if we get there. Scal gives us size but against orlando he would be valuable defending turkulo and lewis. What do you guys think?

I bet Scal makes the roster. Walker hasn't had an impact game yet.. You know one game where you said man if Walker doesn't play well we don't win. Scal while not a great player has had a game like that IMHO.

I would have to pick Scal, but only if we can substitute Walker for him if he goes down. If not, then I would go with Walker.

You bring up a really good point.

Does anyone know what the rules are for the post season roster? Is it set for the whole postseason, or can we move players on and off between each series, or due to injury?

There is no longer a 'playoff roster', just like they no longer have an IR list. You can activate anyone you want at any time. I think Scal will get time, if he is healthy, if not neither Walker or Scal will be playing, and our big rotation will be KG, Perk, Powe, Baby, and a little bit of Mikki.

I think you have to go with the guy who can stand up without getting dizzy...

If Scal is healthy, go with it, but I'm skeptical that he'll ever play again. Probably he'll get a couple minutes, get bumped and get concussed again, and that'll be it IMO. I can't believe I thought that he'd come around fine after the first concussions, on the assumption that basketball isn't as much of a contact sports as football. I didn't think a basketball career would end from multiple concussions.

Billy...he is more aggressive than Scal...plus Scal shouldn't even play...just the other day they said he couldn't even read a book...let him rest...his life is way more important than any 4-5 minutes of basketball he can give us in the playoffs..

I would give it to Walker. He could use some playoffs experience. Follow Big Baby and Powe's blueprint.

Save Scal for the 2nd round (getting ahead of myself), give walker some playoff experience in the 1st round.

I go with Walker over Scalabrine. The latter is now a liability. If he goes down again, that's it for him for the playoffs.

Imo Scal should get more PT. He's a good passer and a pretty good defender. Did you not see him own Dirk in the Dallas game?

The only one of them that would warrant playing time in the playoffs is Scal, even with his injuries. It comes down to if he's healthy or not. If he isn't, Walker will be on the active list but I'd be surprised if he got off the bench.
