Re: New GM a Team Transactions Thread
Pending approval of previos TOR trade w/ DET, Milwaukee and Toronto have reached an agreement:
Milwaukee trades:
Michael Redd $15,780,000
Richard Jefferson $13,200,000
Toronto trades:
Shawn Marion $17,810,000
Damien Wilkins $3,100,000
Joey Graham $2,449,184
Nathan Jawai $442,114
2010 PHI 1st (top 5 protected)
MIL gives: 28,980,000
TOR gives: 23,801,298
23,801,298 * 1.25 + 100,000 = 29,851,622.50 > 28,980,000
Before the trade occurs, Milwaukee waives Eddie Gill and Keith Bogans.
Why for Milwaukee? We are giving up two talented players, but they are both overpaid for what they provide. We drop way below the 2009-2010 salary cap and add a pick to help with rebuilding. We are trying to increase our flexibility and this trade opens up a lot more options going forward.

Miami accepts. We needed to move Beasley to fill some holes here, and both Butler and Haywood are great team players. While the salaries of Songaila and Stevenson aren't exactly perfect, the can bolster our bench here.

As soon as I made the PHI trade I intended to get rid of Dally. He makes an ungodly amont of money until 2011, I couldn't have that. I intended to use PHI's 2010 pick which will likely be in the 25-30 range to get rid of him. This accomplishs that goal. I intend to resign Parker as he is the perfect locker room presence for my young team, and a great backup SG.

The lakers did this trade b/c they knew they were going to lose ariza in the offseason, and with many rumours surrounding andrew bynum at the C, we needed some1 who could step in at anytime and play the 5. Oberto brings a high bball IQ after being coached by one of the greatest coaches of all time.

Also, for waived players, we have always done the first one to claim that player can pick him up (if that player makes more than the minimum than the team would need cap space or a traded player exception to do it)
-I would like to continue this up to the 2009 free agency period, and then if we want to, we could change it so that if you want to sign a player then you send the offer in to me, and I would choose from the available offers where that free agent would want to go.

thats the way we we have always done it, although not all FAs are opened at once. You would decide on top tier FAs, then 2nd tier and then all the rest would be open
such as Jason Kidd, Mike Bibby, Allen Iverson, Carlos Boozer, Hedo Turkoglu, Marvin Williams David Lee etc..would be opened first for like a week, then the next lot would open up, If anyone in tier one dosent get an offer like they should, say Jason Kidd only gets a 2 mill offer, he drops into the tier two pool and does not sign a contract until he gets a worthwhile offer.

I know, but for now if a player is waived (such as ratliff and marshall were), the first person to claim those players can have them; but once free agency comes around, their will be a free agents list and if anyone is waived they will enter the free agent list, and then you have to submit an offer to obtain that player (you wouldn't be able to claim him) and the free agent will choose the offer that he likes best

Raptors Agree. We are taking a risk here, taking 2 highly paid stars who aren't worth their contracts but I finally get some legit wing players in Toronto. I'm probably over the lux tax so I will need to do make some moves.

Waived players should stay exactly the same- on a first come basis. And just like skorf said, if the player is more than the minimum, the team needs to have the capspace/exemption for them.
The Free Agency period is fine also, as in split it into different tiers and go from there.
GUYS THERE IS WAY TOO MUCH CLUTTER AND UNNECESSARY POSTS IN THIS THREAD! Keep it clean with just transactions. If you want to talk about something, take it over to the discussion thread. If you want to veto something, email skorf. This game is starting to get sloppy, and it isn't skorf's fault.

The Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to a trade.
Miami sends:

Math works- $10,297,581 x 1.25 + $100,000= $12,971,976 > $12,866,051
Miami accepts. Tayshaun should bring a lot of intangibles to this team. Cutting out DeShawn's extra salary helps also.

accept... by upgrading form prince to butler i have to take on stevesons salary. thats fine with me becasue he is a very capable backup for hamilton. He rounds out my bench giving my decent subs at all 5 positions. Caron Butler brings toughness and rebounding.

The Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns have agreed to a trade.
Miami sends:
Jamario Moon- $711,517
Luther Head- $1,962,378
2010 TOR 1st (with protections)
Total: $2,673,895
Phoenix sends:
Grant Hill- $1,976,400
Matt Barnes- $797,581
Total: $2,773,981
Math works obviously.
Miami accepts this deal. We give up some future considerations here and it's sad to see Moon leave, but Barnes and Hill can give our bench an extra push in our title bid.

Allen Iverson-$20,840,625
DET is happy to add our PF of the future in Amare. He is fits in our 'young' movement at age 27, and we feel he will like this team and our direction and plan on signing him to a multi-year extension this offseason. Leandro will be our 6th man and is good value at 6 mill. We take a risk giving up a young stud in thad (who is locked in to his rookie contract for a few more years) and the huge expiring of A.I, but we feel that a Stucky/Iggy/Amare core can both compete now and be a force in this league for years to come. We still have two first rounders in the upcoming draft to either draft a center and SF, or trade for one. PHO did well, seeings as Amare wasn't resigning in PHO in a year.
why22 wrote:pistons aquire: amare, and barbosa

i am rebuilding this roster around young players and thad young has a great future. also i got a 20 million dollar expiring
so the trade isn't going through since both teams have accepted a different trade.

This trade is one for the ages. In the deal, the Cleveland Cavaliers trade LeBron James, along with Ben Wallace, Darnell Jackson, and their 2009 1st round pick to the Los Angeles Lakers for Kobe Bryant, Andrew Bynum, and their 2011 2nd round selection. (Trade ID: 5052558)
The Cleveland Cavaliers accept this deal. While we hate trading the best player in the NBA, we bring back the 2nd best player, along with a 21 year old center with a ton of potential. This also fills arguably our two biggest holes in our starting lineup, and allows Smith to move to his more natural SF position. We wish LeBron the best out in Hollywood, and are glad that we will only face him twice a year.
Trade approved, please update your rosters.
There was one veto request, that person made some valid arguments, but I decided to let it go through since one of the main points was about Bynum and him being injured all the time; but the other side of the coin is that he could develop and stay healthy he could turn into the second best C in the league behind Howard.

After losing Thad I have a gapping hole at the SF spot. Although Gallo has had some back problems this year, its his rookie season and he is 19. We love the talent there and he fits my teams MO. Amir is nice, but I have Amare and Speights at the PF position, he wouldn't get any playing time. We don't mind losing the pick we still have PHI's and may be getting another 2 in this draft in another trade. So far Stucky/Iggy/Gallo/Amare/Speights.
