I think they should keep him as the sixth man as well.
Gomes, Smith and Cardinal should be traded with the Jazz pick to get an actual starting SF here.
Luol Deng
Richard Jefferson
Josh Howard
Corey Maggette

Re: Let's keep Mike Miller
a guy who shoots 3-5 every night isn't exactly hard to come by... i'd rather keep gomes over miller for the fact that he makes about 1/3 of the sallary. if we still had KG, miller would be perfect getting 9/7/6 every night, but on this team thats not what we need. we need someone (i almost choked thinking about this, i did throw up a little in my mouth) like Ricky Davis who can get 17/5/4 and go off with spurts of 30 if he has to

I'm starting to agree RC. I'd rather trade Foye than Miller this offseason if I had the choice.

Those players aren't exactly playoff staples, with the exception of Howard who plays with Dirk. I'm more for finding a long term solution than a short term patch. Eventually that patch is just going to bust open again and we'll be back to square one.

Re: Let's keep Mike Miller
He clearly has to take more than 4 or 5 shots a game next season, but when you actually watch him on the floor you realise he's still helping in a lot of other ways. He's always hustling, crashing the boards, moving the ball around, throwing his body around. Plus he seems to be helping out Love and the other young pups, and encouraging them. I hope he sticks around at least for another season.

Re: Let's keep Mike Miller
Cannot underrate someone wanting to be here also.
The shooting is confusing. Does he not think he has the shots? Does he think he helps more by being a PG? Maybe if we surround him by scorers he will score? It is a weird thing.

Re: Let's keep Mike Miller
I really LOVE what Miller does, when we had Marko, i preyed every night he could do that. 9/7/7 nights are great stat lines. The problem is we don't need someone to do that right now. We need someone in the backcourt to score and hit shots. Miller can do it, I've seen him hit 3's in peoples faces since he came into the league. 3 of 5 shooting with some nice hussle is great if you are Marko Jaric or Trenton Hassel. The problem is that Telfair and Foye are not always going to have great scoring nights. They could combine for 9 points or could combine for 50. a solie 17 a game would be a huge help on a nightly basis.

The best way to fiw a team is to get quality players at as many positions as possible. All of those four guys are better then what they've currently got.
Hashem Thabeet - Wolves pick
Stephen Curry - Use Heat and Celtics pick to trade up for him if need be
Ramon Sessions - Offer him the full MLE and the starting job and I think he'd sign
If they can deal for Deng, Jefferson, Howard or Maggette for nothing but expiring contracts, Gomes and the 2010 Jazz pick you're looking at an actual quality team.
PG Sessions - Curry - Telfair
SG Foye - Carney - Miller
SF ???? - Miller - Brewer
PF Jefferson - Love - Williams
C Thabeet - Jefferson - Williams

Re: Let's keep Mike Miller
He can play, and other teams know that. And for those reasons, I would love to see us move him and Cardinal, who both obviously have expiring deals next season. With those deals, and the fact that Miller aint bad as a player to begin with, maybe throw in Utah's first rounder, and you're looking at acquiring a decent player.

Re: Let's keep Mike Miller
This is wild. JMillott and I are pretty much polar opposites when it comes to basketball way of thinking. I don't like Curry or Thabeet b/c I think they're one trick ponies. Sessions, to me, is a rich man's Telfair. He excels in a running, spread offense. On the Wolves, his weaknesses (defense, poor shooter) become exaggerated, instead of hidden like they are in Milwaukee. Curry and Thabeet might be effective on the Wolves, but I see them as two more role players that have high bust potential.
Here's my thinking--
Trade: Cardinal/Telfair/Utah pick for Hinrich.
Draft: Evans with #6, Mullens with #18, Collison #28, Heytvelt #57
Sign and Trade: Gomes/Smith for Childress
Resign: Williams
Hinrich/Collison/Brown
Evans/Foye/Brewer
Childress/Miller/Brewer
Love/Williams/Heytvelt
Jefferson/Mullens/Heytvelt

Re: Let's keep Mike Miller
Miller's trade value peaks during the coming season not this summer coming off a not so great year. They can either enjoy that increased value by trading him or using his likely increased production during a contract year by having him play well for them.
Ryan Gomes trade value on the other hand is as high as its going to get. It is absolutely the time to deal him to a team that thinks his production vs salary is worth more to them then a better but not so cheap player they don't want at the price they're paying.
Ryan Gomes, Craig Smith, Brian Cardinal the Jazz 2010 pick and 3 million dollars cash towards Cardinal's likely buyout would bring back a quality starter. As i've mentioned in other threads the league is full of SF's who make a little too much and are viewed as expandable.
Richard Jefferson
Luol Deng
Corey Maggette
Josh Howard
Caron Butler
Travis Outlaw
Andrei Kirilenko
Jason Richardson
All of them are possibly available for the type of package i've mentioned all without giving up Mike Miller this summer.

Re: Let's keep Mike Miller
I appreciate that Miller does the little things, I really do, but he has been a GIANT disappointment this year, especially after Al went down. 3P% much lower than expected. Career lows in PPG, FGA, FTA, 3PA. I'm not convinced he wasn't going through the motions, and the "he wants to be here factor" is all based on preseason comments and I don't think it has a solid case any longer. He's supposed to be a SCORER. The Wolves needed him to take shots, and he passes up opportunities night in and night out.
Miller's value is that he's an expiring contract, and that value is mighty. It is most certainly worth exploring options if they come about.

Re: Let's keep Mike Miller
Actually Mike Miller has always kinda slowly asserted himself as a scorer and really at his best he is more of a 15/7/5 guy at the SF position then he is a bigtime scorer.
The main mistake the Wolves made was that he should clearly have been the starting SF from day one. He is vastly better at the SF position both offensively and defensively it just made no sense to waste him at SG in the beginning of the year.

Re: Let's keep Mike Miller
9.7 is lightyears away from 15.
Miller averages even less FGA/48 at SF than he does at SG (10.2 vs. 12.3), has a lower eFG% (54.5% vs. 58.3%). As you might expect, this gives less points per 48 (13.7 vs. 15.9) and a lower per (14.9 vs. 15.5). Position is not his issue.

I disagree because the Wolves average 101points per 48 minutes with him at SF and 93 with him at SG.
