Too bad about the loss today, but hopefully the Jays can win their third straight series. I'll be happy with 3-1 and 2-1 series wins all year :D

Minnesota always makes me nervous... we're playing well, I'd love to come out from this 3-1, but I'm expecting a split

Here's hoping for a 3-1 or 2-2 split. The Twins are always good at home. 8-3 or 7-4 record would be great going into a home stand.

2-2 splits on the road are always good.

For some reason I always get the feeling that the Jays will do bad when they go to Minny. The good thing is that they aren't off to a good start so this could be another series win. I'm dying to use the broom picture!

i agree with most people, Minnesota somehow seems to have our number... but didn't the Jays sweep them 4 games at Minny recently? Don't know why I recall that.

Anyway, good job chocolateSens for having the series thread up so fast!

This is the Jays record the last 3 years at the Metrodome.

2006: 3-0
2007: 3-4
2008: 3-0

Do people not fact check before they post?

I guess it just seems like they don't do well against the Twins. Perhaps the Twins play well at the Rogers Centre?

In my case, I just pointed out that the Twins play well at home, which they always do.

if your message was directed at me (which I assume it was), then no, I did not fact check. In fact I didn't even say anything "factual". I said in my message: "but didn't the Jays sweep them 4 games at Minny recently? Don't know why I recall that."

I wasn't stating a fact, I was asking a question. Sort of "thinking out loud". I was just going by some vivid memory. It was close to midnight, please forgive me for not doing a more in depth research.

I think the Jays swept the Twins in a 4-gamer at the Skydome last year too.

Ok Ok....

Coming into this series, I remain unimpressed with the twins so far. They have the type of pitching staff that our lineup can beatup and while we will be throwing Litsch and Richmond in this series I think we will pick them up in those starts. I forsee a strong finish to this road trip and given that I've predicted a loss twice already in the previous series (although perfect series calls)

It is time to predict the twin series, this will be my first BOLD prediction.

I'm going to say Jays sweep the twins 4-0.

My first sweep call, and a 4 game series too.

If my 4-0 prediction does not ring true, i still predict we will at least WIN the series. (3-1)

Heres to hoping my perfect record remains in tact and that the Jays head home 9-2.

Bold indeed dude. That's a ballsy call right there. But mad props. 9-2 going into a series against the A's at home would be amazing.

And if that's too much to ask, I'd still be pretty satisfied with a series win, and content with a split.

I want Rios and Wells to really do some damage.

i forgot to add that i thought rios would come to life in this series.

seriously though, the twins have a dusty lineup.... they have minimal power and I don't think small ball will get it done against the jays with the twins pitching staff.

Also of note:

In team stats

Minnesota sits 21st in Pitching and 25th in offense. = 46 combined.
The Jays are 3rd in hitting (.299 just behind two teams at .300) and 17'th in pitching. = 20

The lower the # the better.

I still stand by my statement, the Twins make me nervous
Even though we went 3-0 last year at the metrodome it was my an average of 1.33 runs (one run win the first game, one run win the next, two runs the last) - could've gone any way really... close one run games, they'd make anyone nervous... I'd feel more confortable if BJ isn't on the mound to close out any of these games though

Yeah...the Jays have kind of dominated the Twins in recent years, so there really isn't any reason to fear them more than any other team.
