Question on your last game against the Jazz

Post#1 » by tmacformvp07 » Mon Apr 13, 2009 8:49 pm

would the lakers lose the game on purpose so they don't face the Jazz in the first round?

I know kobe has always owned the Jazz, even last year when you guys took care of them in 6 games.

Just want to get a general idea of how the lakers would approach the game, win play the jazz, lose play dallas.

I'd much rather play the Jazz right now. Utah is never an easy place to play, but Williams is gimpy and they've been playing like garbage for the past few weeks. It almost seems like they've given up.

No way we give up. We are going to beat them so bad that they are afraid to even think about playing us in the first round. That is how we take care of business. Besides, we shouldn't really aim for an easy trip to the finals as it doesn't prepare us for the real tests, see last year's us and the Celtics.

The Mavs have been playing better lately anyways, so I don't see any point in losing on purpose. And if the Jazz are on, the Lakers could use the challenge. We want them to stay sharp.

Utah's not a real bad choice right now since they have no one to defend Pau Gasol effectively either. I'm not worried about Boozer but Deron Williams will own our PGs and Millsap, Okur and co. always have a good game against us. I wouldn't think we'd more than 5 games to finish them though.

If we lose, it's only because Phil didn't want our startes to play that many minutes.. .plus it takes our full in-game to beat the jazz with their pick n rolls... We dont want to exert our full energy for a game that doesn't really mean much since everything is set.. other than who we play in the 1st round.

Since there's no way for us to get best in the league, this game isn't that important.. .more like an experiment to see how the jazz play their offense and defense as well as just getting ourselves ready for the playoff to come...

Would actually be interesting to see if Sloan lets his team go all out in an attempt to avoid us if he can.

Those types of stunts are relegated for teams that lack confidence, as a fan I would hate it if my team pull such low life stunt. That's for second teir teams to do, that's NEVER been done here in LA and probably never will. The Jazz haven't shown the Lakers any reason why they should fear them or have doubts about playing them.

The way it stands now no matter who's 8th...........they'll be waxed quickly.

I say we'd win in 5. I'd rather play them than Dallas right now. The Mavericks are actually playing quite good ball.

Game 1- Win
Game 2- Win
Game 3- Loss
Game 4- Win
Game 5- Win

Phil would never allow such bs to happen. They will play to win. I think they might also want to beat them down real good before round one starts.

You missed his first two seasons apparently.

I expect Phil to rest his starters a little bit more, but if it's close, they'll be in for crunch time. And I still remember the wiretap from last week, something like Phil Jackson saying that he was keeping an eye on the 8th spot.

But he might want to play Bynum with the starters to get everyone back in sync. Who knows?

doesn't matter who we play. we have shown that when we come to play we are basically unbeatable. now that we have bynum back our bench should be stronger and we all know our starting five is no joke...
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!
