Raptors at Wizards tonight!! Game Thread

Post#1 » by Ji » Mon Apr 13, 2009 5:06 pm

Since I somehow won the last game thread, I guess i am obligated to start this one here. Raptors actually beat Philly yesterday but there is no way they will have enough energy to come here and beat us unless they have some heart and want to avenge a loss to a woeful team.

way to not buckle under the pressure of the superstitious natives Ji. i admire you courage. however, i don't think your boldness will stop them from tossing you into the volcano. be prepared to get tiki-flamed for starting this one.

If Gil doesnt play tonight then I would say that it isnt unfair to question if he's hurt again and may need another knee surgery

Ok, and how exactly would that be Ji's fault?

More proof that Gil reads RealGM.

if you guys have a joke on here going then that is something I dont know anything about. I was talking about Yi. Im talking strictly about Gil. I think he looks physicaly like he did last year in the playoffs when he had to quit and for the 1st time I am fearing that he will never have that burst again. Im fearing that he may always be hurt like a Penny & Hill or that he will be healthy but never have a burst again. Ive always takened up for him and his contract but I have always felt that they screw up his rehab everytime and that he does way too much way too soon. I have always felt that they would get it right this time though and now Im scared. Part of me thinks that Barkley hurt his feelings at halftime when he said that Gil isnt doing anything. I think stuff like that gets to Gil and then he feels like he wont play again if he cant be himself. However, the other big part of me feels that he may be truly hurt and this time it would be a big deal.

dlts20, your reading way more into Gil's first two games than you should. No player is going to display 100% of their athleticism or explosion coming off of what Gil had to go through. It's not realistic. He's barely played the last two seasons. In fact, its likely going to take up to a year before Gil really starts exploding to the basket and finishing around the rim like he did before. His balance is way off. Not to mention he's nowhere near in basketball shape. He still lacks the confidence in that knee, whether its healthy or not, and we've heard nothing contrary about the condition of the knee other than its healthy.

He looked fine to me, just a step and a half slow. But that was to be expected. I didn't see him dragging his knee around like last year. I just see someone being real cautious about playing and still unsure of what he can do and cannot do on a court yet.

An offseason of playing will help him (but not on asphalt please!). Heck, it would probably be nice if he could play in the summer league, but fact is he should be fine come next October. He may only be a half a step slow by then and he'll have a full training camp & preseason to get himself ready for the season.

its very discouraging that Gil isnt playing the rest of the season. There is something still wrong with his knee...why would his last game of the season be against Cleveland 2 games ago. Why would he come up for 2 flipping games?

His career is over imo

I'm personally not so perturbed about his lack of explosion but rather that it seemed that he was clearly favoring, and at times limping during the game against Cleveland.

Considering that nobody else seemed to mention it following the game it's quite possible that I am just imaging things.

Somewhat agree, if Gilbert's %100 like he claims, then why go-back on his statement that he would play the home games?

Agreed. I stand by my suspicion that there's more about his leg injury than is publicly known. It would be financial suicide to let the people who are going to fork over tons of money for season tickets know that the star attraction is hobbled.

I don't buy the theory that it's simply because we're trying to get more ping-pong balls. What, we weren't trying to do the same thing a few weeks ago when Gil said he'd play the remaining home games?

Very suspect.

You guys are crazy, of course Gil cant play....he's too busy looking/interviewing our next coach, figuring out who we are going to draft, figure out how to stay under the cap...etc. The man does it all.

Sorry if we're a little worried about the 111 million-dollar investment to which the success or failure of this franchise depends on.

Can Ji receive a temporary ban until the draft lottery night?

+1 and if the games are meaningless, than why come back at-all for the two games that he did play?

To test it and see if he was okay, which he was...AND to beat CLE in our championship.
