NBA suspends Ray not Sideshow Bob.......

Post#1 » by Kefa461 » Tue Apr 14, 2009 1:35 pm

The NBA is reviewing the third-quarter incident involving Celtic guard Ray Allen and Cleveland forward Anderson Varejao. A double technical was issued after Varejao pulled down Allen, who retaliated with an elbow. Rivers said he did not anticipate Allen being suspended. "Varejao grabbed him and held him and swung him to the floor," Rivers said. "If you stop that, the other thing doesn't happen." Asked if Allen lost his composure, Rivers replied, "It's tough to be composed when you are getting your butt kicked and the other guy is playing a little more than he should be." Boston Globe

Fine with this and saw this coming. The NBA is a wimpy league now, though. McHale nearly murdered Rambis and was still playing. LOL.

What about when the Chief smacked down that punk Bill Laimbeer? The refs didn't even call a foul on that play.

I think Terry got suspended for a similar stunt in the playoffs to Finley. However Reggie Evans didn't get any suspension for what he did to Kaman right. FWIW Stu Jackson may the most incompetant person in the United States. I'm surprised he didn't suspend someone who had nothing to do with the play.

Anderson's pink skin in that picture reminds me of Floam. Remember Floam?

Players get tangled up all the time. What Ray Allen did was just dirty.

Instead, Varejao should have had been suspended... I'm thinking, did Ray hurt his elbow? I was 100% concern for the longterm availability of Ray for the playoffs. Anytime, flesh and bone collides with concrete, it's the recipe for disaster.

You mean when Allen hit Anderson in the nuts?? Are you saying they're made of concrete??

I've seen people separate shoulders on plays like this. You ever play ball before? Doesn't seem so.

Varejao took that blow as if it was a subtle tap, no reaction. It reminded me of when a player, forgot the player, hit Perkins in the crotch area when throwing the ball off him while going out of bounds. Perkins took that shot and didn't flinch. To say concrete is an exaggeration, but any violent trauma to the crotch area would normally take down the strongest of strong men. For some guys, it doesn't phase them at all. I mean talk about a person's being skilled in the Toad style.

Anderson is getting away here. It reminds me of the the whole crab dribble incident... LeBron complains and the NBA says they are going to make it legal next year. The NBA loves the Cavs.

Eh. I dont think he deserved the suspension but I kind of like it. It will hopefully get him fired up in the playoffs series. His mind wasn't there last year (and yes I know his kid was sick) but nonetheless he wasn't really focused on his job.
