"I'm not going to comment on what my future may or may not be," MacTavish said in opening his end-of-season photo day/packing day press conference, at which many expected him to announce his resignation.
He said he intended to talk to GM Steve Tambellini in the next few days, adding, "It won't be a long time before I have a clear picture for you all. It's not going to be something that's going to be long term or dragged out - in my mind, anyways."
To many around the team, it's seemed like MacTavish has had his mind made up for some time and is at peace with his decision to end his coaching career here after eight seasons.
There's been alot of talk since we've been eliminated from the playoffs about MacT stepping down and right now I think it would be the best thing for him to do. I think its time this team goes in a new direction we've been mediocre for too long we need some changes and I think this is a good start.
