Speedy Claxton Likely Plays Tuesday

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Mon Apr 13, 2009 11:13 pm

Speedy Claxton, who hasn't played this season after a series of knee and hamstring problems, will likely play on Tuesday against the Heat.
If the Hawks are going to play Claxton, you can bet the regulars aren't going to get many minutes. They will face the Heat in the playoffs and coach Mike Woodson doesn't want to tip his hand. Marvin Williams is probably a safe bet for normal minutes, but the other Hawks starters could get some rest Tuesday and Wednesday.

1 game, maybe two if he doesn't get hurt Tuesday night for 6 million dollars. Make Speedy play the entire game.

This is good. He won't be playing 10 games this year, so there won't be any insurance issues with his "super expiring" if he can't play anymore. If he can play, he could give us a little more security with the position going into the off-season. No real risk, but with some reward - an easy gamble.

Last time he was rumored to dress, he wasn't even on the bench. I'll believe a Speedy sighting when it is with my own eyes. Also, Speedy won't see the court in the off-season. The bench is shortened in the post-season not lengthened. I'm just hopeful that Zaza is okay for the playoffs as I've heard nothing about his back after he left the last game.

this could be big........... Speedy and Flip backcourt coming off the bench could be very productive.

Does anyone have a recent photo of Speedy Claxton? I want to be sure I recognize him if he does dress for the game.

I haven't heard Sekou mention Zaza. I doubt Acie will play this year even if he is in uniform.

We could use a few veteran defensive minutes from Claxton. I think Woody will have more confidence in him than Acie.

How much confidence would he have in someone who hasn't played in a couple years? He could surprise me, but I really don't expect it.

Hi 'D' still looked pretty good, and he's still quick.

I really felt for the guy when he airballed that first free throw.

I say give him 30 min VS Memphis and see what he has............ he was a good player once.

Gotta disagree, he couldn't handle 30 minutes 2 years ago. If he could play 18 minutes I'd be impressed.

I was going to post that now that I've seen Speedy on the court again that my faith is restored, I can now resume searching for Bigfoot and Nessie.
