Who would Mchale draft?

He likes players who are winners at college level regardless of skill level (McCants, Brewer)

Does not care about measurements and drafts undersized tweeners (Foye, McCants)

Will pick players focusing on specific skills to fill a perceived need (Szczcerbiak, Brewer)

Picks players who turn out to be future stars and immediately trades them (Ray Allen, Brandon Roy)

Will draft white players with very high picks (Nesterovic, Szczcerbiak, Love)

He wants to pick Chris Budinger

And it was DX or somewhere that said he was probably going to sign with Bill Duffy

So Far, Duffy's got Jordan Hill per DX. As far as realistic 09 FAs, he's also got Kleiza.

Szczerbiak was an underrated athlete in that nobody remembers his brief time being injury-free, also Wally consistently had a strength advantage over his man and was a bully in the post.

Still, McHale's primary focus isn't athleticism, it's mentality. Maybe Curry's athleticism would drop him off the radar, but he still strikes as a McHale guy.

I don't know that I agree with that. McHale hasn't placed a real emphasis on height, speed or leaping ability, but since the Ebi pick, with the exception of Brewer, it seems he's put a premium on strength more than anything. Love, McCants, Foye, Smith and Richard may not have all been the most athletic guys on the board, but they were all among the strongest at their position. Curry doesn't seem to fit that mold.

Maybe McHale's emphasis changes year to year. Maybe he's become self-aware and is now evolving exponentially like Skynet.

Brewer definitely is a guy who wasn't among the strongest. If you look at McCants, Foye, Love and even Brewer, they're all guys who stepped up in big games and played great in the tournament. They were all aggressive and confident players.

Smith and Richard also played on teams that played well in the tournament. Curry didn't make the tournament this year, but he was big time last year.
