TIme to turn it up a notch......

Post#1 » by Kefa461 » Tue Apr 14, 2009 1:43 pm

The Celtics have heard all those theories and more from skeptics who believe there will not be an 18th championship banner being raised at TD Banknorth Garden this year. But through all the injuries, criticism, and questions, the Celtics remain extremely confident, for several reasons. "We don't mind flying under the radar," said Paul Pierce. "When you win a championship, you acquire a certain swagger, a certain confidence that you can beat anybody regardless of who you have on the court." Boston Globe

With all of the key players and newcomers having logged lots of playoff time by now, the Celtics believe they will be much more mentally prepared for anything that comes their way. "We know what to expect," Ray Allen said. "We know it's going up a notch. We know both sides of the ball will require an intense amount of focus. "We had so many young guys last year that were important to our success, that feeling was great as far as beating Detroit. They didn't think our guys would hold up on the road in foul situations, and they didn't know what to expect. I think now, we know what to expect." Boston Globe

Asked if he were confident that Garnett would be a positive factor in the postseason, Pierce said, "I'm very confident. I'm confident that even if KG's not 100 percent, [he'll contribute] just by his presence on the floor." There are many valid reasons why the odds are against the Celtics repeating. But the champs haven't lost their swagger in the least. They believe they will have the last laugh. "I don't think, even without us healthy, that anyone can beat us four times," Rondo said. Boston Globe

We'll see if they can back up that talk when they go and play in Cleveland. I'll bookmark this thread.

You don't think that maybe had just a little bit to do with the fact that
1. we were missing our best player
2. we had nothing to play for, and they did

after all, we beat them in boston without KG. i didn't see any cleveland fans waving the white flag then... OMG, if we can't beat them without KG, how can we ever beat them??? OMGOMG let's just give up!!!

i think CLE might very well win a 7-game series. they can beat us (unlike any other team in the EC). BUT... we can also beat them. they have HCA, but that's not the end of it. We beat DET and LAL on the road last year.

and don't forgot, we have a HUGE experience advatnage. we won the title last year, against odds. CLE hasn't ever won anything.

so buck up, man. it's not hopeless. we might lose to CLE, but it would be a great series. personally i think it's a toss-up.

Never underestimate the heart of a champion. The Celtics have heart and I don't think anyone will question that. After talking to a few people today that Cavs game was bogus from the start. First off Paul Pierce was in chill mode he hadn't plan on playing that game but the league step in and ask all team to play there star players if they are healthy because it wasn't right for the paying customer to sit players. So how would you do your job when you thought you had the day off and someone calls you in 30 minutes before you shift starts to tell you that your working tonight? You really aren't going to give it your all. But come play-off time I fully execpt the Cs to bring their A game. Will they beat the Cavs if they face each other in the ECF? I don't know, I hope they will. What I do know is that the Cavs are going to have to take it from us the Cs aren't going to role over and play dead.

I do not understand why you don't keep comments like this to yourself. They do nothing but soil upbeat threads. :-?

Like I said before--the C's couldn't "turn it up a notch" last season when the playoffs began---cause they played the entire season at the highest peak---This season is different...Now we'll see the REAL Celtics when the playoffs start---they've been playing possum.
