He was mediocre for coaching the team to the playoffs while it's so called superstar was injured? Or how about getting them to the playoffs 4 straight years with nothing in the middle. Oh I got it, it's his fault that the team wouldn't play defense. And oh what a great example the so called superstar set by refusing to play defense and getting into public spats about it.
The truth of the matter is Eddie never had the support of the GM; who was hired after he was, a GM who has yet to land a decent pick. A GM who fires a coach when 2/3 of his starting lineup was injured for practically the whole season.
So come back and see our jubilation when Eddie gets us back to the playoffs and the Wizards go down hill by pinning it's hopes to a 1 knee guy who is a superstar in his own mind.
I know you're new to the board but are you new to b-ball!!! Jordan had taken the Wizards to the playoffs 4 straight years, last year without top scorer. So who's record are you looking at?
Plain & Simple he is the perfect fit for t he Kings.
You're probably saying these things b/c you want to believe EJ is a good coach, when he's only average... Very average at that...
One, he was indeed mediocre... Any average coach can bring a team consisting of a 3 headed beast on offense to the playoffs, especially in a weak EC... Too bad he couldn't coach us further... Alls those playoffs ventures we had, ended in a 1st round exit... Except that year when we beat a weak Bulls squad in 6 games, afterwards we were sweeped by the Heat...
Two, We had someone in the middle, Haywood, an above average defender, not known for his offense, but wasn't really needed (Big 3 did the scoring)... Too bad EJ sat him much troughout his tenure here, in favor of Etan Thomas... EJ rewarded effort above production, which backfired in this situation...
Three, it's true... Arenas indeed publicly said he doesn't want to play D... But isn't it the coaches job to make his players buy into his defensive system...??? It would be nice to see him lay out a system other than "protect the paint"... Too bad he didn't have anything else, which resulted in us yielding the highest Opp 3pFG/3pFGA/3pFGM since the 2002 season last year...
Four, yeah it's kinda messed up he got fired when key players were injured, but if you lose to a 7 players dressed Knicks team, it could happen... That was the straw that broke the camels back... Also notwithstanding the fact we started 1-10, after starting 1-5 last year...
Nah we won't miss EJ, we're thankfull for what he did accomplish for us, but we're also happy we won't have to deal with his love for vets, inexplainable lineups and horrible substitution patterns... We'll probably do better next season than we did during his whole tenure with us...
Also, this year, our team just sucks... Players being put into roles they aren't ready for, not being motivated, loss of our defensive stoppers... But it's not that EJ would do any better with this team this season...
