Those who think we have no chance against CLE in the ECF....

Post#1 » by Bad-Thoma » Tue Apr 14, 2009 6:24 pm

..... I'm not going to bother arguing with you, because arguing with someone who has irrationally already decided it can't be done isn't worth fighting with. I'll go as far as to say we deserve to be the underdogs in this series based on HC and regular season record, but we aren't a huge underdog by any means, we split the season series and are only a few games back from CLE even w/missing our key player in KG for a good portion of the season. So, Diesel_Celtic and Joebiscuit, I'm wondering if you're 100% certain that we can't beat the Cavs in the ECF if we should end up facing them (it looks likely, but nothing is a given), if you'd care to make a little non-monetary bet on the series?

Instead of $$, how about something like what JoeBiscuit did last year where he promised not to post for 6 months if he lost the bet...for me, that'd be better than any $$
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

C'mon Joe and Diesel where are you? The bet will be as follows, if the series happens and Boston wins you 2 don't post again till opening day next season and to be fair if Cleveland wins I won't post again til the same. If you're as 100% certain we can't win as you say in almost every thread, you should jump right on this.

As long as we have a healthy KG they can't beat us.

Wow, I didn't know we were already in the Conference Finals with Cleveland. This just shows disrespect for all the other teams in the East saying they can't beat us or Cleveland. The playoffs are another season and as seen in the past you can't count on anything. This should be shelved until it does happen, if it happens.

Did you read my op? I said we have to get there first, nothing is a given, but IF we do get there... I'm not disrepecting any other teams out there.

I'm here. Number 1 I'm not making any stupid, childish bets. What are we 10 ? Number 2, its funny how a thread like this stays open, but if it was me or JB it would of been closed after 2nd reply...whatever!!

I am saying we might not even get to the ECF...there i said it...if we do get to the finals we will never win in qucken loans arena...never

Right on, Joe's up for it. Let's see if Diesel has the nuggz to join him and back up his prediction that the C's don't stand a chance. (qualification so it's understood that I am not disrespecting the rest of the EC: IF we/they get there)

Lol, sorry Diesel, I forgot I had you on ignore. Nothing personal, you just piss me off. I knew you would hesitate on the bet, your "book it" remarks about us not standing a chance against CLE are just your way of trying to rile everyone up. If you thought we were 100% going to lose IF we face CLE you'd be all over this bet. So either you f.o.s. or your

BTW Bad-Thoma this is not a good bet on your part. KG is not healthy and without a 100% healthy KG the celtics will not beat the cavs.

Lol, I know I'm the underdog on this one Joe, but not by as much as you see to think. I actually don't have anything against you Joe, though why you don't have any faith in this team I just can't understand, this is just in good fun. However, if I could have a finals and off-season without having to read "we have no chance" or Diesel trying to incite everyone or physically threaten Kefa (lol) it's a gamble I'm willing to take. If Diesel doesn't have the balls to stand behind his convictions the bet's not really worth it, but it was my idea so I'll stand behind it.

My question to the pessimistic ones...

Do you guys think KG's knee has gotten worse with rest in the last 3 weeks?

I'm no doctor, but I'm inclined to think the 3 weeks of rest probably helped his knee get better, if anything. Not saying it'll be 100%, but at least a little better.

And when KG got in the game for 15+ minutes in the stretch of 4 games, he looked pretty good. He played good D, got some boards and shot high percentages. So unless you think the rest hurt him, you have to think that he'll be at least as effective as he was in that stretch. I may be wrong, but when I was watching that game, it looked like KG probably could even have played a little more.

tombattor he knee cannot possibly be worse but at the same time it does not seem to be getting better either. The guy has missed 2 months and when he tried to come back and play small minutes his knee could not handle it.

In my mind the the celtics are not being honest about the severity of the injury and I believe Doc and Co. have already started to game plan without KG. How could you not at this point.

So your thinking is that his injury is not something that can be healed with rest, but instead they are just holding him out to keep it from getting worse? Or are you thinking that he won't play at all this postseason?

As far as I'm concerned, if KG can play the way he did in that 4 game stretch and give us 25~30 minutes a game, I think he gives us a decent chance at beating the Cavs. That may not be enough, since Cavs look really good this year, but I wouldn't say it's a sure thing that the Cavs beat us. If KG doesn't play, I agree that we probably can't get by the Cavs this year.

Can Cleveland beat a team that is allowed every chance to avenge in all 7 games? Like Heinsohn said, the playoffs is a different animal. Cleveland already got us angry and motivated. Is Lebron really motivated like last year? He was an underdog. Now he is a favorite. That's where Kobe wants him to be.
