Rockets vs Spurs: who wins the SW division title?

Post#1 » by dunleavyjr » Tue Apr 14, 2009 5:18 am

Rockets beat the Hornets. Record is now 53-28
Spurs beat the Warriors. Record is now 53-28

Dvision record for both team is 9-6

1 more game left.

Worst case: both team lose the final regular season game. who wins division?
Best case: both team win the final regular season game. who wins division?

How does the tie-breaker worker for the Rockets/Spurs?

1) season series tied
2) both those scenarios have the division tied
3) conference also tied
4) i believe wins against playoff teams in the west,,,,,,also tied
5) unbelievable that it goes to this but wins against eastern conference playoff teams, Rockets win

Therefore if the rockets win they win the division, or if the spurs lose they win the division

Ive been researching this because i bet on houston to win the division pre season 100 bucks hehe

we are tie with San Antonio from 1-4

Man wouldn't it be something if our records were tied against eastern conference playoff teams too? Who was more points on the season?

It'd be interesting if it was close and SA had to score like 130 pts. I wonder if they'd try with a hobbling TD. Regardless of what happens this has been a crazy competitive season. A lot of ups and downs, but I love the way we're playing defense. The offense seems a little too balanced for my liking but i can't complain. Can't wait for the playoffs!!!

What's wrong with a balanced offense? Remember that playoff game we lost because only 4 Rockets scored all the points? that wouldn't happen with this team.

Because only 4 Rockets scored, or because only 4 Rockets were capable of scoring? :)

Tie-breaker #5 favours us.

Simply put, we beat Dallas, we win the Southwest.

Yea Worrell made it pretty clear last night that we own the 5th tie breaker against the Spurs and would win the division if we ended up tied.
