OT: Are pigs flying???

Post#1 » by BullHeaded » Tue Apr 14, 2009 11:01 pm

The Bears get a franchise qb, two to three inches of snow is on the weather report for hell and then this... the Cowboys are rejecting a player over "character issues". WOW!

"Matt Mosley, of ESPN.com, reports the Dallas Cowboys have taken University of Florida WR Percy Harvin off their draft board because of character concerns, according to a source. "

I have heard that Harvin may make a big time slide. If he gets to 49... that would present a pretty interesting opportunity. I've heard some say "we already have Devin Hester", but if there is one area we should welcome redundancy, I'd say its at "playmaker". We have possession receivers in Desmond Clark, Greg Olsen and Matt Forte... if you get the ball to Harvin (or Hester for that matter) and they have a little bit of open field... that's a likely 6 pts. But what kind of character issues does Harvin have when the Cowboys take him off of their board? I mean, if you are too much of a tool for the Cowboys or the Bengals to draft... that's pretty bad.

We already have Devin Hester.

Don't worry - the Bengals will take him. They'll take anyone.

I don't know... but it would be awfully tempting. We've revamped the OL, got a qb who can throw accurately anywhere on the field and even on the run, and then you give him Harvin and Hester as his wideouts and Olsen as his TE... he could easily rack up 30+ TDs/season wtih that.

I'm just not sure what the extent of his problems are.

This makes a compelling case that he is not the case he's being made out to be.

Pro Football Weekly has posted a story in which it asked five high-level league executives to rank these five players based on the likelihood character is going to be a negative factor: Harvin, Texas Tech WR Michael Crabtree, Illinois CB Vontae Davis, USC ILB Rey Maualuga and Boston College DT B.J. Raji.

Rabbit Harvin ranked No. 1. If that doesn’t surprise you, wait until you see the following. PFW writes: “One top-ranking official, who said he would not draft any of them, compared the exercise to trying to decide between whether he’d rather eat cow manure, drink monkey urine or ingest rabbit turds.”

The NFL draft is a bunch of **** if you ask me, nothing but stupid rumors about how dumb a player is or why they didn't answer a question correctly. These GMs take themselves too seriously in what amounts to a crapshoot nature of this business.

I really do like the talent and where some guys go, but on the other hand I hate the NFL draft, takes too long and it's a bunch of empty anaylsis.

If Harvin drops and there isn't any other better WR talent there or an absolute steal of a DE or FS, then why not? Icness has said that we're also serious about upgrading our backup RB position and Harvin does that as well. We'd still need a big time receiver but it's not going to happen all at once.

And now the wiretap says that Harvin is one of 4 prospects to test positive for marijuana at the combine. I mean - really - how utterly stupid do you have to be that you can't put down the pipe around the time of the combine?? You're just taking hundreds of thousands of dollars out of your pocket.

Hope it was worth it.

That's the big issue - no self control. Can't go without smoking for a month or whatever (not that I would know the exact time mind you 8-) ) during the most important moment leading to your professional career? That's a big red flag. If I were a GM, I wouldn't care if he had been arrested for it before - but I would not take a chance on a guy that is that dumb.

Harvin has sucker punched a few of his teammates. Fayson who plays at Illinois now was sucker punched by him.

Harvin is still awesome and I will gladly take him at #49.

He's too similar to Hester. What happens when he sucker punches Cutler???
