The C’s are, in a sense, flying under the radar today; LeBron James and the Lakers are now the big dots on the screen.
The Celtics’ road to 60 wins has gone largely unnoticed nationally.
“It felt like we only won 40 or 45 games,” Allen said. “There wasn’t a lot of hoopla surrounding what we did this year, and we lost two or three games here or there, but I looked up and we were winning like 55 games.
“Every year 55 or 60 wins is a great season by NBA standards. That’s the standard we set for ourselves last year, and we expect great things out of ourselves. We continually want to find ways to get better.”
Nowhere, perhaps, has that standard shown itself more than during the last 12 games.
“It’s been phenomenal for us,” coach Doc Rivers said yesterday. “When we started getting all of these injuries and then Orlando beat us, I didn’t read anywhere that people had given us the second seed.
“But we didn’t back up. It says that we’re a deep team. I’m amazed at how much our bench keeps getting criticized with all of this.”

We may now....with KG and Powe being back next week....have the best bench in the NBA.
