BREAKING NEWS: NADY OUT FOR THE YEAR!

Post#1 » by Jitpal » Wed Apr 15, 2009 5:20 pm

Not official yet but on the game post on Peter Abraham's Yankee blog, he noted that the word around is that Nady is going to need surgery and he is out for the year. -Jitpal

Just brings us one step closer to Austin Jackson should Gardner/Melky flop.

Once I heard this was the same elbow he had surgery on in the past I had a feeling he was done. Ugh.

Make of it what you want, but Austin Jackson and Kevin Russo have just been pulled in the 4th inning of Scranton's game. We need an OF to replace Nady (Jackson?) and perhaps Russo (plays SS) to replace Ransom.

Jackson was hit by a pitch so he may just be injured, but he did run the bases and play an inning in the field before being pulled along with Russo.

I doubt Jackson is coming up but something to keep an eye on if nothing else.

This won't kill the season or anything but it does suck for depth purposes and if Matsui continues to swing out of whack they may have still been a starting spot available for Nady. I'd like to see Jackson stay at AAA for at least a couple months to make sure he gets at-bats in even if he is crushing the ball right now. Gardner/Melky will be tolerable so long as ARod can come back and guys like Swisher and Cano stay productive.

what sucks about this besides killing our depth right now... it pretty much gets rid of our "trading" chip come trade deadline. Because Nady was scheduled to be a Type A, he actually had a decent amount of trade value.

With this, i say we find away to get someone like Chone Figgins or someone like that who can play Multiple positions [IF/OF] and steal bases. if we had 2 legit sb threats our line up would be sooooo filthy

what would you give up for marlon byrd or andruw jones? both are f/a's at the end of the year and have gotten off to good starts this year and byrd id bet if he ends up w/a solid year will be able to net a draft pick at the end of the year

we need young pitching or bullpen help that's close or already in your pen

Sorry studcrackers, 3 games aren't going to make Jones any less worthless on the market than he was a week and a half ago.

i also mentioned marlon byrd, who i believe if given enough playing time should be good enough for a type B pick
