Jazz have talent to beat LA!!!!
Jazz have the talent to beat the Lakers in this series BUT they lack the heart. These players dont seem to care that much about it. Rarely see a player dive for a ball on the floor. Jazz are guys playing for a contract trying not to get hurt (see Boozer, Okur and Korver) or guys fat on a contract (see Ak-47). Guys playing for stats (D-Will). I hate to cap on D-Will but he is the supposed leader of this team and doesnt get in anyone's face. Doesnt lead by example on defensive end!! Until the last game when he got in Bynum's face, he look like a player more concerned about scoring and Assist stats then winning championships.
Maybe these playoffs change everything where these guys work together trying to win a championship or maybe it leads to the blow of this team in the off season. As far as I am concerned, both possibilities are better than the status quo!!!

Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

I thought from the title of this thread the first message would read
AT pocket pool.
In what crazy world do you think we have the talent to beat LA?
one position we have a better player, PG, but not by very much.
Even LA's Bench is better than Utah.
We can not stop one on one the following players from scoring.
Kobe, Lamar, Gasol, Bynum
They can not stop one on one the folloiwng players from scoring
Williams.
Every player on their team is a scorer. They can double team williams and we have Kirilenko or collins taking jump shots. We double team any of the 4 and you have wide open scorers.
How far is LA over the salary cap?

Re: Jazz have talent to beat LA!!!!
Actually, I don't think the Jazz have the "talent" to beat LA. The Jazz's shorter, slower frontcourt struggles against tall, athletic teams. The Lakers are a tall, athletic team. Thus our "talent" is not suited to beat the Lakers.

seriously? not by very much? dwill is arguably the best pg in the league...who is he "not better by much" than? Fish?
BTW, I don't see how the OP thought this warranted its own thread.

Yeah, saying that Fisher is near equal to Deron is like saying CJ MIles is near equal to Kobe. Self-admittingly, I have a tendency to underrate Deron, but in this case, Utah has a CLEAR advantage at at least one position (PG) but in most other areas, LA is probably the more talented team.

Nonetheless Fisher has managed to make make things very tough for Williams, to the point he got into Deron's skin and frustrate him most than once...

Fisher turns into the greatest PG of all time when he plays the jazz. im very sick of it but he's obviously holding a grudge against us.

Re: Jazz have talent to beat LA!!!!
The Jazz have enough talent to beat any other team in the league in a 7 game series (maybe excepting Cleveland), but they don't have the talent or the heart to beat LA.
Match them up one by one and it's pretty clear:
More talented / better coach: Lakers, by 20%
Deron vs. Fisher: Jazz, by 30%
Kobe vs. Brewer: Lakers, by 100%
Odom vs. AK: Lakers, by 20%
Gasol vs. Boozer: Lakers by 20% (it really would be the Jazz if Boozer was interested in defense)
Bynum vs. Okur: fairly close, but I'd probably have to lean to Memo, only because Bynum is coming off of injury, Jazz by 10%
Ariza vs Korver: Trevor is much better on D, Korver can be a deadly shooter, Lakers by 10%
Milsap vs. Powell, Paul is a clearly better player, Jazz by 30%
Farmar vs. Knight: Farmar very hot and cold, BK has better court vision but no outside shot at all. Lakers by 10%
Walton vs. Harpring: Walton has more talent, Matt has more grit and toughness, Jazz by 10%
Vujacic vs. Miles: Sasha is streaky, MIles is even more streaky, neither seems to be very interested in defense or rebounding, Lakers by 10%
Shannon Brown vs. Price: who cares?
So the Jazz have a definite talent advantage @ starting PG and backup PF, and that's about it. The Lakers have a stronger in-game coach, a more talented and playoff-savvy team and HCA.

I'd take Miles over Vujacic and Walton over Harp.

Shannon Brown's been playing solid basketball; equal or better that Farmar, and Farmar isn't garbage if you ask me...

We don't have 20% of the defense that LA has, atleast not on the road.

Not that some arbitrary percentage system is the best way to analyze a playoff series or anything, but the gap between Kobe and Brewer isn't three times as large as that between Deron and Fisher. It doesn't really matter and we're still undeniably overmatched in nearly every other area, but if Kobe is 100% better than Brewer than Deron is close to 100% better than Fish.

First, a better indicator of the coaching is championships, so Jackson is ahead 9-0. Secondly, the jazz DO have the talent to beat anyone, but sports is mostly mental, which is why the jazz sometimes can beat terrible teams.

Take away Gasol and you win that series. I think the keys are that Boozer steps up (I don't mean just offensively), and Kirilenko's head in the right place to be a factor. Sloan's already blown it with the latter. Im surprised that somebody mentioned Korver is playing for a contract; many Philly hated to see him go despite his average D. He hustled there.

Re: Jazz have talent to beat LA!!!!
Do the Jazz have all the signs of an 8 seed? yes.
Worst road record.
No D.
No Heart.
Unless Kobe, Gasol and Odom mysteriously disappear or something ridiculous happens to our team we have a very bleak chance of winning this series, let alone getting to 6 games.
Whats been our fatal flaw the last 3 yrs? We cant win on the road. Why would that change all of a sudden? Now we are in a series against a team that can actually beat us at home...so that crazy home advantage we had on Houston and GSW is gone.

HOW? You don't have anyone as good as Kobe in your backcourt. No one as good as Gasol in your front court.
Come on. This league is a star league. If you had Malone and Stockton then the series would be up in the air
