He did a 10 Question interview with Wilner. Should be pretty interesting as Doc is normally a pretty quiet guy.
1) Memories of his first game: The atmosphere as he left the field was more memorable than the game (near no-hitter) itself.
2)I missed this as they switched the online stream to Hoops
3)Favorite place to go with his family: Medieval Times or African Lion Safari. Besides that he's a homebody.
4)If he wasn't a pitcher he'd want to be a shortstop (although he says he's terrible)
5)He never felt like the best player in any of his leagues.
6)Best piece of advice ever received: You're not defined by your play on the field but who you are as a person.
7)Absolutely terrible at video games.
8)If he could go back and talk baseball with any player in history it would be Nolan Ryan.
9)Role as a leader: His job is to be as prepared as possible, making it hard for him to find time to be a one-on-one mentor to the younger guys. He tries to make himself available but it seems like he's more of a "leader by example".
I guess I missed two questions there, sorry for the sloppy recap. They'll probably post the interview online at some point. This is just a quick little interview but it's interesting nonetheless.

Cap'd. Sorry it's so crappy, right after the interview started the online feed switched from the pre-game show to Jack & Eric's Hoops show so I missed a couple of questions. The overriding impression is that he's a tremendously humble, down to earth guy. It's a really refreshing attitude from an absolutely elite athlete.

Thanks broseph. His humbleness is probably the greatest attribute of his that I admire. You can bet that deep down inside though, he's has arguably the most competitive spirit.

No doubt, which is why he works so hard. Wilner was talking about how it's hard to get an interview with him, not because he's unwilling or cloistered (like Ryan and Downs, respectively) but that he's always doing some kind of work to prepare. Howarth & Ashby added that while he makes everything look so easy on the mound nothing actually comes easy to him because he spends so much time preparing.

Re: Doc Interview on The Fan in a few minutes
ESPN just had a story on how much work Manny does to prepare for games. So much that by the time the game starts, he can just mentally go out and have fun, knowing that his body will back him up.
Of course, Kobe's workouts are legendary.
It takes a special type of person to be a top athlete. You'd think it would be easier for GMs to figure it out at draft time. Maybe there's something to that test that Bargs aced.
