Nazr Mohammed To Bobcats: Play Me Or Trade Me

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Fri Apr 17, 2009 4:35 pm

From chrbal's find:

http://www.rockymounttelegram.com/news/ ... 51024.html

Nazr Mohammed doesn't want to spend another season on the Charlotte Bobcats bench.

A day after concluding a frustrating season where he never made it into coach Larry Brown's rotation, the veteran center said he wants to play elsewhere in 2009-10 if his playing time doesn't increase.

"It's not something that I take lightly," Mohammed said Thursday. "If I'm back here, I want to play. If that can't be facilitated, I don't want to be back."

Thoughts?

Idiotic, and no one will take that contract unless we get a worse contract back, so no thanks.

We have to get lucky and hope a playoff team next year loses all their big men to season ending injuries.

Steven Hunter (which we'd be lucky, since he'll be an expiring) or Jamaal Tinsley. I love when overpaid role players think they are better then they are. Rather then whine about playing time, wouldn't you rather figure out why you are not playing.

In the interview he sounds like someone who doesn't have any idea why hes not playing and thinks its because Emeka and him are similar??!?!?!??! I'm just waiting now for Tarence Kinsey to come up with the same conclusion about him and Lebron James in Cleveland.

TO NAZR, If you were any good you would be playing. Look around, the Bobcats aren't that deep up front. Here is the real question I have. Why didn't you ask for a trade after Larry was hired as coach? You had to realize that you wouldn't play much. Or did you honestly think that he would be so impressed with how well you did under the great Sam Vincent?

We've come this far with him, no good trading him now because we wont get anything back for him. Got to hang onto him so he is a $6+ million dollar expiring contract at the end of 2011 when he'll have at least a little value IMO.

True. But like mentioned above, you never know when a team will lose a big man to injury and end up having to pay a little more than we expected to get for him. One can always hope, although I dont like wishing injury on anyone. Perhaps a person decides to retire at the start of the season - yeah, that's better.

(1) LOL
(2) If we could trade him, we probably already would have by now.

I actually don't understand why we didn't play Mohammed more. He looked decent his first year with us. I would rather have played Mohammed and kept Hollins + Carroll than add Diop, who has been pretty unimpressive in my opinion.

Nazr should be playing over Gana.

No doubt about it!

Naz-

If you are THAT interested in playing elsewhere, I'm sure that you and your agent could sit down with Bobcats management and re-negotiate your contract downward so that it would be palatable to other teams. Just a thought.  :D

Nazr for Banks/Humphries
All contracts end in 2011.
Banks provide size (6-2/3) and defense at 3rd string PG/SG .
Humphries is young,hustles and rebounds.

Nazr is needed as Raptors have no C backup.

That Toronto idea makes a lot of sense.

Nazr is just one of those guys that it doesn't click with. I don't mean he sucks or his Basketball IQ is low, its just for whatever reason he doesn't play to the level he can.

Detroit should have been perfect for him, instead it was a disapointment. He played for teams that really need help up front, and hes only managed a career high of 28 minutes per game over 2/3s of a season.

Since when do players who make too much money and aren't good enough to be in the rotation on a bad team get to demand trades? Like what is he gonna do if we don't trade him? I'm sure we'd gladly trade him if we weren't getting screwed in return. He's also good insurance to have if Diop or Okafor go down.

+1

How would it look if Nazr outplayed Diop, esp. since LB dumped Nazr years earlier?

Yeah, Gana would never average 9 and 7 in 23 minutes.

It doesn't matter, if someone's not playing the right way, Larry's not gonna play them over someone who does regardless of how good they are. Our front office really screwed us over by not anticipating this and not trading him in the beginning of the season when he had SOME value as opposed to negative value.

How did Nazr "not play the right way"?

And how has Gana "played the right way"? If hitting 30 percent of your free-throws is playing the right way, than I certainly don't want to play the right way.

Sorry, but that's total **** to me.
