Reaction to Garnett news by some playoff bound players

Relax. I'm questioning what's going on because the team isn't releasing any details and it doesn't make sense. He plays for a couple games and then goes out, and we keep hearing he's returning soon, and then we get this.

Nobody could question KG's heart. But I question what exactly is going on here and why I haven't even heard KG say boo.

Just curious, though: who here is a Sox fan and who here thinks that Schilling should have sat out because he was risking permanently f*cking up his ankle? There's some hypocrisy in someone suggesting that if there's any risk of permanent damage you shut it down, period.

I agree, you can't question KG's heart or desire...we all know he'd be out there trying to play even if his **** leg was hanging on by a thin strip of skin...so it's gotta be bad!

This is a serious injury that wasnt either evaluated correctly or gotten worst, but Im not a Cs fan, but one thing I would never do is question K.Gs loyalty, his heart or his commitment to the game. NEVER.
I know no matter what he goes thru he will still be there for his team, and if I know K.G its probably ripping him apart for not being able to play and be a part of his team and the playoffs.

Apparently, there are Bulls players who are questioning whether or not Garnett's indeed injured. In other words, they aren't "buying it." They'll practice and prepare as if to expect Garnett to play in the first round series. Why are Bulls players out thinking themselves? Garnett is hurt. He won't play... Period. Still, depending on how you read this, it almost sounds as if they're saying this jokingly. But, they're likely being serious...

I think some players know that once Boston is eliminated, someone among the national media will cite or later include a footnote during coverage that Garnett was absent from Boston. The Cavaliers might have reached the NBA Finals regardless. However, if you're a really competitive player, it would eat at you inside knowing that you beat the defending eastern conference and NBA champions to reach the NBA Finals but not when they were 100%. This is assuming that Boston and Cleveland face each other in the eastern conference finals. But, I feel like LeBron and other opponents have to say something respectful as not to seem as if they're kicking dirt on a team's grave before they're actually dead in out of the playoffs. Or some of these comments I'm reading might be genuine. You never know...

I don't want KG playing right now, we don't need him and anything that helps ensure he's ready when we do need him is a positive. Regardless of whether he is holding himself back or someone else is, I am glad that he is being held back.

Desire and heart and all that jazz is good and all but self control is necessary so that heartfelt effort doesn't go for nought.

Brah, these guys have wayyyyy too much respect for one and other, its one thing to go at each other on the court but most players leave it on the court.
I have made a lot of friends that way, we go at each other at times close to throwing blows at one and other, but then afterwards if we see each other or we meet up at a club or a bar and we laugh about how stupid we were.

The two best basketball players in the world didn't need any breaks to meet in the NBA Finals, but they got them anyway. In bunches.

A month ago there was still the possibility of David Stern's dream matchup being torpedoed by an upset. But with each new development — Kevin Garnett's knee not healing, Andrew Bynum's knee magically repaired, a stress fracture in Manu Ginobili's ankle — the LeBron James-Kobe Bryant clash for the title has gone from highly likely to a preordained eventuality.

In order for Stern to be denied his fantasy Final someone was going to have to beat the 66-win Cavaliers or 65-win Lakers four times in a single series. But one by one, the four most likely scenarios where that might have happened have gone from not too terribly ridiculous to patently absurd.

Even with a healthy Garnett, the Celts were going to have trouble defeating the Cavs. Without the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, the champs have a Big Ticket to nowhere.
