If he can keep knocking down 3's- yes he's a long term solution. I like his snappy handles.. he probably needs to get more in control here and there, but he makes crisp passes(unlike Farmar) and does the little things we need. Now that he's been surprisingly good at the long ball he's starting to look like a true triangle pg.

This is similar to the Sasha's agents tactic in getting Sasha a better contract.

The Bi Annual Exception for next year is $1.99 million. If Mitch offers 2 years at the BAE, he'll also have Brown's Bird rights in 2011. I have a feeling that $10k isn't move Brown to Israel.

Now there's a link and an article, so I don't see any need to lock, but honestly- I would be shocked if Shannon doesn't like the idea of getting rings on a team likely to be a dynasty.

2mil? not enough. You'd have to talk at Josh Childress money to get him.

Well Lakers are running a tight budget. First priority is re-signing Ariza and Odom to about 4-5, maybe 6 mil each. Lakers already start this summer 3 mil over the luxury tax, and by retaining both players they can get to as much as 10-11 mil over the tax. Also Kobe is expected to use his ETO and sign a new deal with the Lakers that will probably give him even more money than he makes now. If Lakers are able to rid themselves of Walton/Morrison's 5 mil this summer by trading them for draft picks before Brown signs such a deal with Maccabi, then Lakers would probably give him 2 mil for a year or 2.

Where do you get your info?

Lakers are on a tight budget?

10-11 million over lux tax? Sure.. they usually are.

Kobe is expected to use his ETO? umm no. Even if he were, that would not effect the cap next year. The only thing that would do would put more years beyond his 2 remaining.

There is plenty of money to keep Shannon Brown in LA if they want him. As Kirk Moon said:

You are terribly mis-informed about the state of the Lakers.

I thought I read in Rick Reilly's "Day in the Life of Kobe Bryant" that Kobe said he WASN'T going to opt out of his deal. You couldn't really blame him if he does. He's one of the few players in the league who actually earns and deserves his gigantic salary. But that would certainly be a nice gesture on his part, and a big help towards keeping our roster intact.

I love what Shannon Brown has done so far. I obviously want him back next year. I hope he doesn't turn into a contract year player and lays an egg next year. For that reason, I would keep Farmar and trade him right before the trade deadline (if Shannon works out)

I hope not. I'm a HUGE Brown fan from his time at MSU, and I'm really rooting for him to continue to contribute for a winning team. I always knew he could.
