Lowry > Brooks

Post#1 » by Baller 24 » Thu Apr 16, 2009 12:38 am

We need to start Lowry, it's been shown that he's more consistent at running the offense, better at getting the free throw line, an overall better defender and passer. Brooks just shoots the ball better, his impact is greater than Brooks overall when he's on the floor, we need to start him IMO, Brooks is a better spark off the bench.

Brooks can't shoot nor run a team. He's useless when his shot is not falling since he sucks defensively too.

How is Lowry better at running the offense? You have a guy named ron artest that kills any kind of offense you put out there. You could put him on the Spurs/Bos/LAL and he would drop them down a few spots offensively in the league. Brooks spaces the floor for Yao much more than Lowry does. You could see it at the end of the game, how they would just double yao with no fear at all. Ron then jacks up s_hit and there is no offense regardless if you had both lowry and brooks out there.

I'm with you though, RA needs to get his rotation and subs in/out better. He still waits too long to bring in players. If the players on the court lose a 10 or 5 pt lead, don't leave them in and hope they get the lead back. Yank their a$s!!

No. People continue to forget that Lowry is more experienced. Stop scapegoating the little guy. Next year is his real test. He hasn't had enough time to adjust to his starting role, and PG is the hardest position to learn. Have some damn patience.

No, I've said this for the past month, and going into the playoffs this could be BAD, not good.

I haven't got to watch too many games lately because of my job, but I've noticed that Lowry has gradually gotten more minutes in crunch time. It could just be him not completely knowing the offense yet.

AB is not playing well lately...Lowry lacks of range and AB's unstability will bite us in playoff anyway no matter who you start with - both of them are not starter materials...Defensively Lowry is a little better so I agree Lowry > Brooks but just a medicore beat out another medicore lightly

I've given up on Midget since the Alston trade but it's interesting to note that Brooks has averaged 16 ppg against the Blazers this season - which is the 2nd highest next to his ppg against the Suns. Hopefully, he can get his **** together because we're gonna need a lot of firepower against this very efficient offensive team.

I've always been saying this since the first game I saw Lowry play.

Lowry shoots .564% TS, .503 eFG% on the season
Brooks shoots .521% TS, .476 eFG%. on the season

Let's also not forget that this is Lowry's first year with the Rockets, having only played a handful of games while Brooks has been here for a season already. What does that tell you? Lowry is what Brooks should have been in his rookie year.

Efficiency wise by the numbers, theres a huge gap between Lowry and Brooks. But if you've been watching the games, you can easily tell Lowry is the better offensive player between the two. He's a far superior finisher around the rim and knows how to draw fouls unlike Brooks.

Lowry is also a better defender no question.

Lowry has higher bball iq I would say as high as Battier's, he just makes the right plays and right cuts, a natural instinct for the way the game is played. He's the only guy on our team that has ever faked a pass. How many times have you seen passes stolen when we swing the ball around the perimeter because its telegraphed and so easily predictable..

Lowry is a superior passer no question, he's also pass first. What does it tell you when a pass first point guard shoots at a better efficiency than a shoot first point guard? He's either the best or right up there with Battier at making entry passes. He always feeds Yao in excellent positions, again attributed to his high bball iq.

Lowry contrary to popular belief, is actually pretty good from the three point line. He's shown that he can hit wide open 3s with good consistency.

Lowry plays much more calm and under control than Brooks, also less turnover prone.

The gap between the two is as clear as day, as most people have come to realize, and even Adelman has already started to adjust by putting Lowry in for the 4th quarter to finish for us. Naturally the next step is to start Lowry and play Brooks less minutes in his ideal role as a scoring punch off the bench.

agree. the problem is adelman. hes the type of coach (player's coach) who rather have his players stay on and fix their mistakes instead of benching them. if popovich was coaching, brooks and artest would have limited mins with the way theyre playing.

you do know what part of the season we're at, right? We'll be patient next season. Right now, we wanna get out of rnd 1 and Brooks' current level of play is going to make that difficult, especially if he eats up big minutes with starter PG duties that he's currently too "inexperienced" to deal with.

Lowry as starter, Brooks off the bench where he can just worry about scoring and pushing the ball, rather than trying to setup plays etc. Next season he can battle it out with Lowry and whatever.

Regardless, it's too late to change any lineups barring injuries. Let's just run with what we have. I think everyone forgets what will get us deep into the playoffs.......that big 7'6 guy. We'll go as far as he takes us.

Do you? He's been the starter for 35 games now. Whining about how Lowry is better/should start at the beginning of the playoffs is absolutely ridiculous.

Hey, I've been whining (quietly) since a few games after the trade. Just being consistent.

Also, it's only ridiculous in terms of expectation. Not in terms of making sense, since even you implicitly admit Brooks isn't quite ready yet via your 'have patience' comment.

Yes, Adelman won't switch starting lineups now. What I'm hoping is that he keeps Brooks on a leash much shorter than previously demonstrated.

You rockets fans are truly ignorant for posting this....what is your starting record since Brooks took over? i mean im not even a Rockets fan n i can appreciate a man who wins....who cares what his stats are every game if it says W next to the HOU? I mean im sorry but all of you would find that if you started lowry then exactly what happened last game when he took all Aarons minutes...lowry will put up ok numbers but you'll lose. See no one is afraid of Lowry no one is ever gunna have reason to even get out on him, he doesnt spread the floor, he attacks the rim but honestly only with passion once every 5 games. You people are ridiculous i mean Brooks takes over as Tmac or the third member of your preseason "big 3" crumbles away and i dont know what his record is since but i know that he won a hell of a lot more than he lost since starting and there were games along the way where he was the catalyst for those victories. and whats pathetic is when he starts doing well and displaying his truly unmatchable quicks in the playoffs you guys are all gunna be slobbering over how quick he is this n that...stop being fairweather fans Brooks has 10 Xs more potential and ability then Lowry, only thing Lowry has is height and if your really gunna judge a man based on how tall he is then thats just sad....be happy with what you have that just gave you a chance at the 2nd round for the first time in foreverr....seriously thats just a sickening post day of the playoffs.

No offense, but you have no idea what you're talking about.
