Re: CAT ROUND 1---MJAllday59 vs. Bness888--Write up's due Friday
Goodluck to MJAllday59 and The Bayside High Cougars. Got a great starting lineup.
The Wisconsin Phantons
PG- Mo Williams, Mike Bibby
SG- Paul Pierce, Jason Richardson
SF- Ron Artest, Richard Jefferson, Corey Maggette
PF- Chris Bosh, Lamar Odom, Charlie Villanueva
Cc- Tyson Chandler, Drew Gooden
vs.
The Bayside High Cougars
PG: Chauncey Billups, Rodney Stuckey, Kyle Lowry
SG: Dwyane Wade, Jason Terry, Russell Westbrook
SF: John Salmons, James Posey
PF: David West, Leon Powe
Cc: Emeka Okafor, Joakim Noah
Phantom Depth Chart:
Williams (35) / Bibby (13)
Pierce (40) / Richardson (8)
Artest (35) / Jefferson (13)
Bosh (30) / Odom (18)
Chandler (35) / Bosh (13)
Game Plan:
Phantoms will go 9 men deep, running Bayside like crazy, with Bosh playing center sometimes as Odom shifts in at power forward. You will see the "showtime" Phantoms with Rielly at the helm, not only in this match up but in all matchups. This team can get up the floor offensively and deffensively. We will mainly use the fastbreak ignited offense but when things slow down drop in to pick and roll sets mainly with peirce and bosh mostly.
Mo williams is the perfect point guard for this team because his ability to play the shooting guard on offense as peirce handles the ball in the pick and rolls set ups with bosh. Mo Will will keep Billups honest at all times with his shooting ability, so chanuncy will not be able to double on anyone. Bibby will sub in ocasionally to give Mo a breather... This will not be a drop off of any kind. Bibby will fill right in with his ability to play the 2 also, while letting peirce and bosh do the pick and roll gig.
Pierce will be guarding Salmons in this matchup. This should be an easy task to Paul. Hes one of the league top and most underated defenders. Salmons really isnt a jump shooter so he will try to take it to the basket where Chandler will be roaming the paint to block or alter his shot, if he even gets by Peirce. Also there will times when Salmons would have to guard Bosh due to our pick and roll game plan which would be a nightmare for John. Salmons is just starting to come in to his own, while Peirce is in the prime off his career.
Artest will be slowing Wade in this game. The Phantoms targeted this guy in the draft for this very reason... slowing the Wades, the Kobes, and the Lebrons. By no means will he be shutting Wade down, hes just there to make him work for EVERY single bucket, being physical with Wade, and forcing him into bad or quick shots. Artest is easily the best one on one defender in the game. All i have to say is good luck Wade.
Against Bayside the Phantoms feel Bosh will have a feild day offensively. West will have his hands full all game in the high post or the low post trying to match up with Bosh. Bosh can play both spots effectively. Also, with the pick and roll game with Bosh and Pierce, there will be circumstances where West would have to guard Pierce which will also be next to impossible for West.
That Brings us to Chandler. With Okafor on the floor he will be able to sag off his man some, due to Okafor's lack of offense. He will be in the weakside swatting shots or altering shots if Wade or Salmons can some how get to the bucket. Chandlers rebounding ability will start out fast break oppertunitys with quick outlet passes to mo will, pierce or artest to run the breaks.
Basically our main strategy is to run the floor on offense and defense, while using the pick and roll in half court sets. With guys like Mo Will, Bibby, and JRich the pick and roll will work wonderfully with there shooting ability. Also with the slashing ability of Artest, Pierce, and Jefferson our fast break offense wont be to shabby either.
Match Up's:
Coach's:
Pat Reilly, Larry Brown, and Nate McMillen Vs. Avery Johsnon, Marc Iavaroni, Randy Wittman
I shouldn't even need to type anything in here. But i have to. Pat Reilly is a hall of fame coach. Larry Brown is a hall of fame coach. Nate McMillen, my second assistant coach is probably a better all around coach then all three of the Cougars Coachs. None of his coach's are even currently in the league, which should say soemthing.
Gi-Nor-Mous Advantage: Phantoms (Bness888)
Point:
Mo Williams Vs. Chauncy Billups
Although this looks very one sided in the favor of Bayside, dont get it twisted, Billups will have his handsful. Mo is a very capable scorer, wether it be creating his own shot or getting wide open jumpers from kick outs. Mo williams isnt the best defender in the world, but he can hold his own and has imporved greatly this year. The gap from Billups to Mo Will is alot smaller than you think.
Edge: Bayside High (MJallDAy) (slightly)
Wings:
Paul Peirce and Ron Artest Vs. Dwayne Wade and John Salmons
Like i stated previously, Artest will be guarding Wade, and Pierce will be guarding Salmons. Wade will not be able to take this game over, due to Artest's smothering defense. He will still do his thing, just not like he's playing the Knicks. It will be a MMA match the entire game. Artest will make him work and work hard for every assist and every point. Pierce will pretty much be able to have his way against Salmons. The high basketball I.Q. of Pierce who is in the prime of his career has a huge advantage over the young, up and comming John Salmons. Pierce can hit the open shot, create his own shot, and drive to the basket with ease.
Advantage: Phantoms (Bness888)
Bigs:
Chris Bosh and Tyson Chandler Vs. Davis West and Emeka Okafor
Clearly Bosh is the best player out of these four. Chandler is clearly the best defender out of these four. West is a great powerforward dont get me wrong, but he will not be getting wide open shots and easy alleyoops like he does on the Hornets. Okafors offense game will be canceled out with Chadlers defensive game, and vise versa. So that pretty much leaves it to Bosh verses West, where every one knows that Bosh has a Huge edge.
Advantage: Phantoms (Bness888)
Benchs:
Mike Bibby, Jason Richardson, Richard Jefferson, Lamar Odom
(Corey Maggette, Charlie Villanueva, and Drew Gooden) (Not Playing but on roster)
VS.
Jason Terry, Rodney Stuckey, James Posey, Kyle Korver, Leon Powe, Joakim Noah
(Russell Westbrook, and Kyle Lowry) (Probably not playing)
This almost is not even fair.
While the Phantoms pretty much have another starting team on there bench, the Bayside High Cougars have either really young guys who dont hold alot of experience(Stuckey, Powe, Noah) or really old guys who are past their careers (Posey). The only real threat on this bench is Jason Terry. Terry can go off all he wants but im pretty sure that Billups and Wade will be playing most of the game so he wont get alot of tick. Bibby has the clear advantage over Stuckey and Lowry. Jrich has the Clear advantage over Jason Terry. (real starter vs. real bench player) Jefferson is obviusly better than Posey. And Odom is surely a better player than Leon Powe or "Leon Pow" as phil jackson would say. Noah is a good hustle guy yes, but hell be gaurding Bosh, because Bosh will be the Phantoms back up center.
I cant understand why i typed that much.
The Phaontoms easily have the Edge over the Bayside High Cougars with a landslide.
Huge Advantage: Phantoms (Bness888)
Playmaking:
Chandler and Okafor wash each other out. Mo Williams, Paul Pierce, and Chris Bosh all have the ability to make huge plays and take games over, while only Billups and Wade could for the the Cougars. Billups will want to slow things down, while the entire Phantoms team will be running the floor.
Slight Edge: Phantoms (Bness888)
Defense:
We both have great defenders. The cougars are much more of a defensive minded team, all though we have 2 much better one on one defenders in Artest and Chandler.
Edge: Wash
Final Note:
This will be a tough, hard faught series. Bosh and Pierce would be too tough to handle in this matchup. Wade is probably the best player in this game, but Wade would be slowed down. He will not have as much of an impact in this game as most would think. Phantoms have a huge edge in just about every category except the point guards where its only a slight edge. In the end, due to matchup problems and intangables the Phantoms would prevail, quite easily i must say.
Phantoms in 5, 6 at the most.
P.S. This guy obviously does not care about this team. I Had to go back and find his coach's due to the fact that he couldnt find the time to post them on his teams roster page. Also, he hasnt updated his roster team since his trade with black ice, which was along time ago. Just throwing that out there for the judges.

Bness-
You are going up against one of the best 1-2 punches in all of basketball history. Billups and Wade will execute their positions with perfection, how do you plant to contain this?
MJ-
You haven't put in a right up yet and Fridays almost over, how do you plan to over come this? (JK)
Seriously though, Bness bench is a very serious threat, his bench will really help him close out games by keeping his starters fresh. What do you plan to do withing the game to even this up a bit?

Re: CAT ROUND 1---MJAllday59 vs. Bness888--Write up's due Friday
Good Luck to Bness and may the best team win.
The Wisconsin Phantons
PG- Mo Williams, Mike Bibby
SG- Paul Pierce, Jason Richardson
SF- Ron Artest, Richard Jefferson, Corey Maggette
PF- Chris Bosh, Lamar Odom, Charlie Villanueva
Cc- Tyson Chandler, Drew Gooden
vs.
The Bayside High Cougars
PG: Chauncey Billups/Jason Terry
SG: Dwyane Wade, Jason Terry,
SF: James Posey/John Salmons
PF: David West, James Posey/Powe
Cc: Emeka Okafor, Joakim Noah/Powe
Strategy: 9 man Rotation with the bulk of the minutes going to
Billups/Wade/Posey/West/Okafor/Terry/Salmons/Noah/Powe
Point Guard Matchup:
Chauncey Billups vs Maurice Williams
Defensively the much strong, smarter and playoff tested Billups wins the matchup. Honestly Williams and Bibby are nothing more than jump shooters and Billups is an expert of being an help defender while still being able to close out on shooters.
Offensively whenever the opportunity arises we'll post up Mo williams who is a mediocore/poor defender.
Matchup: Billups
Shooting Guard: Dwayne Wade vs Paul Pierce/Artest
Wade has finally returned to his 2006 Finals form and is back to his dominant self. This season with averages of 30 PPG at 49% their really isn't a player on the opposing team who can stop him. While Pierce is a capable defender (defending mostly small forwards) Wade's explosiveness will be too much to handle . Flash is extra familiar with double and even triple teams and is still able to carry a team offensively w/outstanding numbers.
Matchup: Wade
Small Forward: Salmons/Posey vs Artest
Posey will play a majority of the minutes in this matchup as he is the more experienced player. Posey is a tough/smart defender with a reallly nice shot. He'll primarily be asked to guard the teams best player (Pierce) and hit open shots when needed.
Salmons will be used occasionally when the team needs another scorer.
Power Forward: David West vs Chris Bosh
While Chris Bosh may be the better player, David West has the better post season numbers. West has proven to be a reliable defender in the playoffs so we don't expect anything different here. We'll use Posey to defend Bosh as needed.
Advantage: Bosh
Center: Emeka Okafor vs Tyson Chandler
The one thing that most people don't know about Emeka Okafor is that he's actually a solid offensive player. While he's highly underused in Charlotte, Okafor has a solid shooting percentage of 56%. My opponent states that Okafor is not talented offensively but the numbers say differently. His career numbers against Tyson Chandler are really solid:
Emeka Okafor : 15PPG 11.2 RPG 2.5 Blocks 1SPG
Tyson Chandler 8.7 PPG 12.2 RPG 1.8 BPG
The numbers prove that Chandler can't afford to float on the perimeter because Okafor is actually efficient on the offensive end as well.
Advantage: Okafor
Bench:
Jason Terry, Posey, Powe, Noah
vs
Bibby, Richardson,Jefferson, Odom
Advantage: Bayside
We're just too experienced to lose this round. Our bench is filled with experience, energy and defense which will prove to be too much for my opponents team. Besides, The Phantoms bench contains players who need the ball in their hands to be effective. Guys like Posey,Terry(6th man of the year) ,Powe,Noah are all accustomed to playing with high caliber players and are still able to be very effective.
Overall: My team consists of 2 former NBA Finals MVP's, 4 NBA Champions. The Phantoms are not only outmatched in talent, but in experience as well.

Billups (Former Finals MVP) was considered an early mvp candidate for what he did with Denver. Williams is a jumpshooter on lebrons coattails.

Re: CAT ROUND 1---MJAllday59 vs. Bness888--Write up's due Friday
i love how you didnt put anything about the coachs cuz you know yours are pitiful.
theres no way your team would win this series. none.
You didnt mention anything about artest guarding wade because you know that im right about him slowing him down. not stopping him but slowing him down. u tried mentioning something about how peirce guards mostly small fowards. ARTEST will be guarding him, not peirce.
When you wrote this.
---------- Small Forward: Salmons/Posey vs Artest

You never put advantage Phantoms. LOL
also
Emeka Okafor : 15PPG 11.2 RPG 2.5 Blocks 1SPG
Tyson Chandler 8.7 PPG 12.2 RPG 1.8 BPG
dosent mean anything to me this year. tyson's been injured here, injured there, all year long. Another point i might add is hes playing next to another all star big in West, whom you happen to have. Which would obviously show why his numbers arent as good as emeka's who is playing next to freakn Boris Diaw.
I still dont see how you can say your bench is better than mine. My bench would put up 110 points a game on your bench in a regular game, with out even sweating. dude come on.
Another thing i like is that, EVEN AFTER I MENTION that you havent updated your team roster page after your trade, or got coaches, you still havent done it. its been 3 or 4 days since ive said that.
haha what a joke.
PHANTOMS IN 5, if wade can come up with some magic, or it'd be a sweep.

In short:
Your team's bench is insanely unbalanced. You have too many players on your bench who need the ball and are not effective without it : Jason Richardson Richard Jefferson
and others who have proven they aren't as effective when they're not starting: Lamar Odom
My bench has players who HAVE PROVEN to be huge contributors off the bench: James Posey was a huge reason why your Paul Pierce has a ring. Jason Terry is a former 6th man of the year and Powe had a great season with the championship Celtics. For the sake of balance/chemistry/experience my team beats yours.
The Center Matchup SHOULD be important as the numbers listed are career stats...not just this season. So while Chandler may have been injured for the 08-09 year, how does that explain the previous years?
Our team has one thing that your team seriously lacks...championship experience. If you honestly think your team would win in 5 against Billups and Wade you're highly mistaken.

You obvisously arent a lakers fan or watch the lakers play. odom is effective when not starting he might not have the numbers cuz of less mintues but dude makes our second unit tick and he can come in and play PF next either gasol or bynum. You have a one time champion in billups and a one time champion in wade. Posey got handed rings by guys like peirce, garnett, ray allen, wade, and shaq. he dont count. I have one one time champion in pierce. You make it seem like thats a HUGE advantage. Another thing is that Jrich and jefferson are very well balanced players, not just scorers, they just do that very well.
my team could sweep yours, or win in 5 and you obviously no my team could or you wouldnt say in 6.

Bness, while I think your bench is insanely strong. Your game plan is weak. Saying that Wade will not take this game over because of Artest smothering defense. As a Rockets fan I know that Artest defense has been much less than smothering this season. He can't even keep up with Roy let alone Wade. On top of that Chandler has hardly been a positive force this year when he is playing. which hasn't been much. You are over rating Mo's capabilities without Lebron James on his team too.

Re: CAT ROUND 1---MJAllday59 vs. Bness888--Voting has begun
all hes got is billups and wade.
the rest of his team is mediocre.
im telling you if these teams really played in real life, that the duo of pierce and bosh with the good role players ive assembled (artest, chandler, odom) would win this match up. rediculous

it's ridiculous...
How are guys like Artest and Odom GOOD, and Okafor and David West merely "mediocre"?
I'm no judge, i'm just asking from unbiased POV.

Re: CAT ROUND 1---MJAllday59 vs. Bness888--Voting has begun
Similarly, I have a few issues with your write-up as well Bness. You mentioned Mo-Will creating for himself or getting kick-out jumpers...who's kicking out to him? Lebron isn't here and if you're not doubling PP, there's no one kicking out.
Also, Chandler isn't clearly the best defender of the starting bigs. He's in the discussion, but Okafor is a terrific defender too.
Also, to be honest, I'm not as convinced of your bench advantage as everyone else, especially since your best bench player (Jefferson) is playing behind your two most important players (Artest, Pierce)
I'm going with the Cougars.
