Parker's running a layup drill so far against the Mavs.

yep, Pop smacked him over the head in that time-out and Surs go on a 7-0 run to tie it up. Duncan steps it up with 2 key baskets and Mason's 3 wasn't bad either.

LeBron is pretty good and any team with guys like Mo Williams and Joe Smith complementing their star can win a buttload of games

just goes to show how much a good team needs a GREAT player...we've had both those guys on the same team, and other guys that could be good role players...we just miss that superstar that can take over games...just surprised it didn't work with Redd

Dallas with just too many contributors. They have almost 7 guys with double figure scoring and their bench is outscoring Mavs 39-14. Sadly, no Ginobili means no 2nd round playoffs for Spurs.

I feel almost certain that SA is going to be our trade partner this summer.

Jefferson for Oberto/Bowen, fill in the rest. It just makes so much sense for both sides. Jefferson gives them the third scorer they need with Manu in serious question. Manu could even be part of the package coming back.

(Brief aside on Ginobili: I don't think his career is in serious jeopardy, but when you're 32 years old and you've had serious ankle injuries on both ankles in the past 12 months, and you were showing some signs of slowing down when you were "healthy," it may signal that it's time for the Spurs to move in a different direction, or at least move aggressively toward a substantial backup plan, in the hopes of competing for another ring before Tim packs it in.)

Then on our end, the spin potential is out of this world: these guys are champions, they know how to win, we needed a defensive upgrade and nobody's better than Bowen. Maybe we also pick up Mahinmi or a future first. They have pretty much no use for young players at this point, and while Mahinmi doesn't profile as the type of guy you need keep for the inevitable Tony Parker project, he is the type of guy you can call "a young big we targeted" if you're the Bucks. If it's Manu, the spin potential is obvious and huge, and then he expires at the end of the year. Both Bowen and Oberto are non-guaranteed.

I'll be most amused if a team that McGrady is on makes it into the second round when he's injured.

Also, I think a Redd for McGrady trade is a bad idea as Redd will likely end up playing most of next season whereas McGrady will obviously end up injured. Better a full season of Redd than 1/2 with T-Mac.

McGrady's never played 80. And our luck will be the dude roots his back in the 3rd game and Redd plays 70+.

Anyone else feel Portlands missing that one veteran presence to pull them together :)?

I knew there'd be some "upsets" (better seed losing) in the first round, but never thought there'd be 3 on opening day of the playoffs. To me, if you lose the first game of a 7 game series at home, it's almost impossible to win. You've got to clearly be the better team (which you probably aren't if you lay an egg at home in game 1).

For some reason, I see Boston coming back against Chicago in 7.

I see Portland losing in 5 to Houston (my original prediction was 6).

Dallas beats SA in 6.

As opposed to 3100, any idea what your post count would be if Europa never existed?

I'm guessing 13-17.

But better 1/2 season of McGrady than 3 full seasons of Redd.

Well, he hasn't made it there yet. But I can't help thinking that Portland should have offered a little more than Raef's expiring for RJ. They could have used an experienced pro basketball player tonight, one who plays defense. The Houston frontcourt just had their day all long with Portland. It's nice to know Greg Oden can score points with Yao on the bench because the game is over.
