Let's Face It: We shrunk; They ROSE to the occassion

Post#1 » by Cyclical » Sat Apr 18, 2009 8:19 pm

We're all upset with Ray Allen's performance but he's not the only problem here. The Celtics played an uninspired game and when they did make runs, the young Bulls had the poise to punch them back.

I'm not sure if Rose will score 30+ again or if Thomas will make those consecutive jumpers again, but the Celtics have to play much, much better, smarter and aggressively if we want to get out of this thing alive.

Back to Ray, if he pulls an ATL/CLE redeux we're in trouble - Gordon is a sub-par, shorter defender. No excuses. Powe has to be a factor. Mikki ain't good enough and baby is who he is - not going to get his shot off often inside the paint against their bigs.

We can finish this thing in six but we better act like the defending champs and not a tentative bunch. In game 1 the Bulls have acted like they've been there, not us. So far, props to Chicago for an impressive first punch.

I should ban you for the pun in the topic title.

I have a feeling Rose is gonna have an off-game next time. Of course it's possible that I'm wrong and he'll dominate again.

Great title.. I think have a better one.

"All it takes is a Rose to win over the Green Monster"

BTW.. bad coaching by Doc.. he let 1 player beat u guys..

Even worse was the lack of any kind of pick and roll on the part of Celtics for anyone other than Paul Pierce.. Come on when the best pure shooter in the NBA like Ray Allen has a off night u got to help him a bit by running plays for him..

Doc stop blaming the players u forget to take ur own medicine..

You can blame Doc if you want (most people on here do) but the players have to perform when they are on the floor. Beside Allen the main problem was the team defense that sucked which is 100% on the players.

Paul and Ray shot WELL under 40% combined. Rondo and Perk had very good games. Tyrus Thomas hit miracle jumpers (all contested). Rose played the best he can possibly play.

When Paul and Ray shoot around 45% (their average), Rose scores 25 a game instead of 30+, and Thomas goes back down to his scoring average of low teens... the Celtics should be able to win EASILY, home or away.

But we all know this.

So in this hypothetical world - Do Gordon, Hinrich, Miller and Salmons also all shoot near their season averages?

Everyone on the Bulls roster with the exception of Rose, Thomas, and Noah played below average. The Bulls have a lot of weapons and Rose is the only one who scored a whole lot. They played well and it may have been Rose's best game but collectively the Bulls can play much better.
