So if TBS is "very funny" why in the hell does Tyler Perry have yet another show that will air on it?

I haven't watched either of his shows... But judging by the commercials I think the new one is worse than the old one, which I didn't think was even possible because they just look awful.

They do, but I'm not sure who they are going to spend it on. Their rebuild came one year too early imo and it's killed that team and all the great chemistry it used to have.

Chauncey hands CP his ass in game 1, stay tuned this is going to get really interesting now.

It's a 7-game series, Paul. But you know that. :)

Were people saying Billups was done or that the Pistons chances of winning a championship with that team were done?

I think both are false anyways. The Pistons would be the second best team in the East this year, especially with KG injured. They had a chance against anyone with Billups on their team.

And who is Detriot going to get with their cap space? Carlos Boozer? Wow, what a major pick-up that would be... They would be a 6-8 seed then with no shot at improving because Boozer isn't good enough to be a 'best player' on a title contender.

If they somehow carry the cap space over to next year and get LeBron, Wade or Bosh then I will admit I was wrong and it was a good trade... Otherwise it was one of the worst trades in NBA history.

I think you are going a little overboard, Luke. One of the worst trades in NBA history?

Yes, one of the worst trades in NBA history.

Trading a top 5 PG in the game today for a washed up, old cancer who effected the play of the entire Detriot team and dragged them down so badly that they went from being a staple in the EC finals to being a team that makes the playoffs while sub .500 and are going to be swept out of the playoffs in an embarrassing fashion.

But heck, at least they have a shot at Carlos Boozer! And while they have absolutely no shot at Dwayne Wade or LeBron James, since there is no way in hell they are going to go to a struggling franchise in Detriot, at least they have a small, small chance to land Chris Bosh if they save up there cap room... Chris Bosh who couldn't even take his team to the playoffs in an abysmal Eastern Conference.

One of the worst trades ever, period. Unless a miracle occurs and they land Wade, James or Bosh.

even with the billups, the pistons do not have a chance to contend, they knew that, instead of just accepting the first or 2nd round losses they started the retooling effiort immediately. they need new talent and nobody else on that team would have brought back iverson's expiring deal.

I love Chris Paul, but I still consider Billups to be the best point guard in the NBA. This is probably the last season though.

Billups
Paul
Rondo
Williams
Rose

Kidd and Nash are really running out of gas.

I don't think that series will be very interesting. Chris Paul is the only player on the Hornets that cares at the moment. Something is not right there.

I thought that Detroit would have won the East this year, if they would have just stayed the course. Nice post, LukePliska.

First or second round losses?... Haven't they been in the EC Finals like five years in a row now with a similar roster? Only their roster now has a young player in Stuckey who is developing that could have helped them get over the top.

The Pistons would have been better than everyone in the East besides the Cavs... And with the Cavs small guard combination they wouldn't have been favorites, but I wouldn't have been surprised to see Detriot upset them and go to the Finals.

Anybody else think that Atlanta is the darkhorse Eastern Conference Finals team? They play some excellent defense, when they are motivated. They're kind of like the new Detroit.

Atlanta will play the Cavs in the next round should they beat Miami. There is a lot to like about the Hawks, but I can't see them beating the Cavs...

i'm nowhere near as optimistic about them as you are, and apparently neither was joe dumars. the genius who built that team in the first place

That's my feeling too. I think Dumars acted too soon and he got rid of the wrong guy. There's no reason to think the Pistons would not have been contenders with Billups and given how the season has played out it may have just been them and the Cavs left standing. The Cavs are the better team but in a seven-game series strange things have been known to happen.

Just ask the Magic today about that.

Dumars had better land a major free agent or two if this move is going to pay off. He has the flexibility to do that but signing stud free agents hasn't proven to be an effective way to build a contender in the recent cap era.

Hammond leaves Detroit and Dumars can't think straight. :D

Oh, and I agree with Luke that the Billups trade was absolutely awful. Maybe not one of the worst all time but definitely one of the worst in recent league history.
Nothing will not break me.

My guess is Pistons land some FA and go into next year with Stuckey/Rip/Prince/FA/Dice with Maxiell/Johnson off the bench. Likely a better team than the Bucks.

We'll see how much of a genius he looks like without Chauncy Billups. :)

Being better than the Bucks isn't impressive... Everyone does that. ;)
