(Insert name of felon) IS IN THE BUILDING TONIGHT!!!! (((girls cooing))) I think Akon was there...

My voice was totally shot the minute that #$%^&*! ref tried to overrule our world-reknowned timekeeping crew. He called an 8-second violation with 17 SECONDS on the shot clock, then took about 2 minutes of TV time trying to explain himself, before the other refs bailed him out with an "in"advertent whistle.

lol @ Uncle L talking trash on the Heat's board. Miami wins this game by a half-point & there'd be thirty of 'em over here...

Couldn't help but think a small voice in Woody's head was saying...

"Wow! Finally, somebody in this league I can outcoach! Thank You (insert deity here)!"

 I jumped up the second he blew his whistle and screamed it can't be an 8-second violation pointing at the shot clock. I think I frightened those around me (lot of body mass springing into action). Lucky I didn't stroke out before he gave up.

I don't get carried away for a second. We had a great game, but this is a series that could go up to 7 games. I like the fact we rebounded well and our defence swtiched pretty well on Wade. It's obvious the Heat will make adjustments for game 2. Bibby had a very good game. Horford as usual and JJ did their part. Of course J. Smith is the MVP of the game, I take my hat off for what he did tonight. Marvin looked good while out there on the court. That being said, I expect a much closer game wed.

One last note for Game 1, I watched the TNT coverage on DVR last night. The halftime show could be summarized as "Josh Smith isn't a good jump shooter" since that is all that Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith were talking about. Sure that's true, but can you save that for when he is hoisting up jump shots? The Hawks were up by 20 at that point and were running behind solid defense and rebounding. Josh Smith had 17 pts at half behind solid free throw shooting and a variety of dunks and close shots. They weren't even saying that Miami needed to force him into shooting jumpers. They were just saying how good he would be if he could shoot. I like the TNT Studio Show, but that's just phoning it in. You guys are supposed to be better than that. You don't have to gush over the Hawks because the score spoke for itself, but I would expect the commentary to be more timely.

The other observation is that Dick Stockton can't tell Al Horford and Josh Smith apart. Dick's been doing play by play a long time and I can only assume his eyes aren't what they once were. 15 and 5 can be hard to discern in fast action but at least two of the mixups occurred when one of the guys was on the bench at the time. Not that big of a deal, it just stood out to me.

^^^ Just watched the game on DVR as well and you took the words right out of my mouth. The halftime analysis of Josh was just dumb. He isn't a good jump shooter but he's still an incredibly effective player when you look at the other things he can do on the floor. C-Webb even said that he would be the "best player in the league" if he could develop his j. That's crazy talk.

Obviously Josh can get a lot better, but why focus on his deficiencies when he had just played his best of the season?

Those guys are all loud statements and hyperbole. Everyone "could be the best player in the league if they just XXXXX" and every other guy is "the most underated player in the league right now" to them.

Also noticed on TNT halftime that Kenny Smith quickly pointed out what the Hawks were not doing right. Great Analysis

Has anybody discussed what the flip was going on at that halftime show?

Halftime? They only had the Drum Line at halftime. Are you asking about the parody dance number they did to the Beyonce song? If so, no. We aren't discussing it. And we probably won't be able to without years of therapy.

I've heard a number of things about Atlanta. This was a bit disturbing in its confirmation.

They've tried different things with respect to humor (mascot-based and even fake dance team-based) with varying degrees of success. Most of them are just NBA standards like dance contest between mascot and various fans ending with a little kid ringer or fake ref ringer. This one was really weak and drew a lot of boos from the crowd while it went on. It was far worse than the all-male parody dance team they do about once a month. I could do without either of them as it's novelty humor wore off the first time they had it.

I had incredible seats and that sh*t was happening right in front of my face. There's a great line at the end of the Simpsons once where something preposterous just happened - Homer Simpson ends the episode by saying "..and we'll never speak of this again."

I assumed Retrovision was looking for a recording of game 1. Couldn't find it posted online for free and don't know how to get it off my comcast dvr. Last year the NBA sold videos of the games, but I didn't dig deep enough to find if its available this year.
