Who's coming back next season?

Who do you guys think is coming back next season for the Suns. As of right now I believe Shaq, Tucker and maybe Barnes will be gone.

Shaq says he's staying in Phoenix.

Personally, I think Kerr should trade him.

Id be really surprised if all 3 (Amare,Nash and Shaq) come back next season.

Personally, I'm expecting them to keep this team together one more year.

They finished the season well and were competitive under Gentry without the team's best scorer and without Diaw to replace Amare.

I think they want to see what this team can do under Alvin Gentry for a full season and without injuries.

I just can't believe they tried to trade Amare at the trading deadline. Here's a guy who:

- Is only 26 years old

- Averaged 28 PPG last year after the Shaq trade

- Averaged 37 PPG against Duncan in the 2005 conference finals

- First Team All-NBA in 2006-2007

They should give him and Nash contract extensions, re-sign Hill and Barnes, and trade Shaq and J-Rich for better defensive players at their positions.

Barnes will be gone for sure as he needs a new contract and isn't going to like what PHX can (or will) offer him
Shaq needs to go - hey, what's the deal if we sent him somewhere and he retired rather than report? Does his salary come off the books for his new team?
Jrich is just too expensive for what he brings, at least for us. Someone will want him - Toronto looks like a perfect fit.
Swift is gone I think - too bad, I thought he might get it going here.
I don't know what Tucker's deal is right now - I suspect it's ending or expired already.

I have a feeling now that Nash is staying.

He's also a guy who is the second worst defender at his position statistically over Al Jefferson. His 37 ppg over Duncan produced a 4-1 loss for us. He hasn't improved the defensive part of his game, he has injury issues, he has ego issues, and now he's in his seventh season. "Only" 26 implies that he still has room to grow, and from what we've seen, what makes you think he does?

The Suns only lost 4-1 to the Spurs in 2005 because of Joe Johnson's injury.

Amare also has a great work-ethic.

Coro's answer about Amare speaks volumes:

Paul Coro: Barriga, We are all probably a bit jaded when it comes to analyzing Amare's progress. He's such a gifted athlete and has shown so much progress in certain areas that we tend to expect it everywhere in his game. He obviously has not come very far defensively but Cartwright said that he felt like he was starting at a base level with him. At the same time, he had Iavaroni's undivided attention for a while and didn't progress except for shot-blocking, which regressed this year probably out of his fear of foul trouble. His shot has improved leap years. His strength is there. His rebounding could be better but there aren't many double-digit rebounding power forwards. His commitment to team concepts will continue to be challenged. After being cleared to attend games, he showed up for his first one and then came to one of the last five. Teammates notice that.

The only way we can keep Amare is if we trade Shaq and/or J-Rich for a defensive minded center. Amare HAS to play next to a guy who plays awesome D and gets a bunch of rebounds, otherwise our frontcourt will suck. Amare or Shaq is gone, but there is no way both can stay on this team and we still compete.

Ok, so were getting rid of amre because he is so-so on defense and Lou because he is no MJ on offense. Anyone else you want to get rid of?

We need players to mask our stars' deficiencies. It's reckless to expect Amare or Nash to suddenly become star defenders. We used to have Bell, Marion, KT, and Diaw who could easily mask Amare's and Nash's deficiencies on D.

It's not hate to point out Amare's not a good defender. It's just realistic.

c'mon man, you're throwing stats that are 3-4 years old. I get your point, but i'm interested in Amare's current production pre-injury. All his numbers are down across the board compared to last year.

Nash & Hill stay.
Barnes & Swift gone.
Shaq ??

Amare said he wants a coach that will hug him and encourage him. Quoting him=Hate?
