How do we become spurs-like?
If the Lindsay and Bud rumors could become true we would have a sudden influence of spurs' talent in the front office. So I was wondering how could that new brain trust shape us into a spurs-type team? What kind of players do we currently have that could fit the roles that the spurs players have in their system?
AL as Duncan--elite offensive post scorer
Love--bonner on roids/Oberto---distance shooting big, but with greater rebounding?
Brewer as Bowen?
Foye as Mason Jr?
Just a random idea. Trying to predict movements

Re: How do we become spurs-like?
Jefferson will have to improve his defense quite a bit. We'll also need insane luck/skill drafting European guards late in the draft that are jaw droppingly fast, or flop better than "The Magic Hour".

It's interesting that Harden has been compared to Ginobili.

Win the lottery, get lucky on two late foreign picks, and stress defense

So you find the closest thing to him, which is Budenholzer

Re: How do we become spurs-like?
Aren't the Spurs like a defensive team? The Wolves are a long long way from that.
What I've always admired about SAS is that they had a vision of a successful franchise and put together a coach and a group of players that fit together perfectly from the top down. This is what the Wolves need to do. They may not end up being exactly like the Spurs but that isn't the important thing.

Re: How do we become spurs-like?
klomp...yes
4ho, ironically I did not know you put that. We must remotely agree.
A team becomes a defensive team when their coach stresses that. remember our defensive rankings when we had Casey compared to Wittman? Casey was a good defensive teacher and turned us into a decent defense. A quality coach can do that. We might not be spurs-defensive but we could improve our defense a couple pts it would make a huge difference.

If Telfair could only finish and get to the line like Parker does...

Re: How do we become spurs-like?
The wolves players are so different from the spurs that I don't see any reasonable comparison between the two. If you are going to compare Jefferson to Duncan you might as well compare Telfair to Parker. The wolves have one guy who is almost an all-star and a bunch of mis-matched parts, comparing them to one of the premiere teams of the last decade is going to be tricky. Instead you have to think of a successful team that was built around a low post scorer who is a good rebounder but a bad passer and defender... well, I can't think of an example.

Re: How do we become spurs-like?
We could always emulate the early 2000's Jailblazers with Zack Randolph.

a non-stoned, non-anger management 2000 blazers is not a bad team.
