Dikembe Mutumbo Tribute Thread

Post#1 » by dream34 » Wed Apr 22, 2009 2:50 am

I think we saw our last finger was in Game 1 of the 2009 NBA Playoffs.

Nothing is official at all yet, but the knee injury he just had looks like it's career ending at this stage of his career.

Deke, thanks for being such an awesome defensive and locker room presence. Let's hope we can rally around this and win a title while you're still on the roster!

I really hope he gets healthy, and doesn't have too much trouble with his knee. It was awful :( I also hope the rockets win something in this playoff for him

Can't even say how sad I am about this. It's terrible. If anyone can find his hospital room I want to send flowers or something. Dead serious.

It's not the worst news of the year. It's better to go out with guns blazing on the court, than just simply retire. He came out with a champions heart.

Na, I think most players would agree they would rather retire on their own terms than be forced to because of an injury -- especially in the playoffs.

I'm hoping he can still recover, get one more block and finger wag, then call it quits. He's the greatest humanitarian to have ever played and an amazing defensive player. Get well soon.

Its gonna be a struggle without Deke if he is truly done. We'll see how he feels after 2 days off. Its gonna put more pressure on Yao to stay on the floor b/c the Blazers just have no problems scoring on us when there isn't a big man back there.

Dont expect Mutombo back, but I hope he can still do well in his life. He will be missed, greatly.

This is too sad; I'm very hurt by this whole situation.

Why do things like this happen to people like Dikembe? It's unbelievable.

I almost shed a tear when I saw him on the ground like that.. I can't believe it's going to end like that for him.. I wish him all the best for a recovery, and I think we all owe him a big thanks for what he's done for us.

Thank you Deke

I'm a Portland fan, and I am very sad to hear that Dikembe may have played his last game. He's my second favorite player ever, and the game will sorely miss him, as will I. As great of a player he was on the court, his greatest contributions came off the court. He's truly an exceptional human being, and I wish him all the best.

You'd be hard-pressed to find ONE Blazer fan who wouldn't rather have Dikembe healthy and playing in this series, regardless of what his injury does to our chances of winning.

It sucks seeing anybody go down, but Dikembe is one of the best guys in the league and one of the easiest to cheer for. Best of luck Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo.
