Hey, italian Kings fan here. I heard the rumor about Messina, and I want to give you my opinion, since I think I know Messina very well, as a coach.

Messina is by far the best european coach right now, no doubt. He is a winner, a very talented coach. Mike Brown, this season coach of the year, every summer spends time with Messina to learn from him, expecially his offense. So, there's no doubt about his talent as a coach. He won many Euroleagues and Italian and Russian championship. He won something with every team he coached.

But, I'm not sure he will be the right coach for an NBA team, expecially a rebuilding team like the Kings, and I'll tell you why. Like I said, he is a winner. He always wants his players to give 110%, even if you are up by 30 or down by 30, even if it's the final or a preseason game. And in an NBA season, much longer than an european season, that's not possible. That's his style of play, and I can't imagine him coaching in a game where guys don't do what he expects. And the Kings right now are not the best team in the league to do exactly what he wants (Nocioni would be the only one to really like Messina...).

I think the Kings should look at a coach who will be able to be patient with this team, to develop the young talent we have (JT, Hawes, draft picks) and to rebuild step by step the team. And, most important thing, stop with the experiment. Get a real coach this time, after Adelman all the coaches we had were terrible.

Rubio plays in Italy, and he speaks Italian as well as Spanish... maybe I'm just reading to much into it, but maybe they figure to get an Italian coach who can communicate with Ricky as well.

Rubio plays in Italy, and he speaks Italian as well as Spanish... maybe I'm just reading to much into it, but maybe they figure to get an Italian coach who can communicate with Ricky as well.

Rubio plays in Spain, in Badalona, and I've never heard him speaking in Italian. I don't know if he speaks english, but if the Kings will be able to get him, I don't think there would be any problem to communicate, because Noc can help him at the beginning. They both speaks spanish.

Anyway, I really hope to see Rubio with the Kings next year, I believe he is the only one in this draft who can really be a star in the future, even more than Griffin.

Idk why I messed up thinking Joventut was an Italian club (confusing it with Juventus might have been it) But anyways, Italian and Spanish are not that far off anyways (My spanish teacher was Italian), plus Noc helping him is also a possibility. I heard him speak English in an interview with some online magazine, idk which one... but its on youtube, and he spoke ok.

I wouldn't mind that type of game... Thompson fits that bruising type of game, and I think Hawes can too. Kind of like the Pistons from 04-05, with Martin coming off screens.

Well I should add he's that kind of coach and style but he actually knows how to coach offense unlike JVG. He will use a good European style motion offense.

You are right, Juventus is an italian soccer team.

And talkbasket is right too, he is a JVG type of coach. Like I said before, maybe he won't be the best coach for the Kings, considering the roster and the ambitions for next year, but, if the options are Mike Fratello, Jeff Ruland and John Whisenant like I read on HoopsHype, then I go with Ettore. It would be interesting to see if he could translate his stile of play and coaching to the NBA. If he does, the Kings would have one of the best coaches in the world. And then, it could be a great value to attract european players.

Well, at the end I believe the Kings will hire Jordan, and Ettore will stay in Europe.

There was some video I saw with Rubio speaking english, he seemed to be doing alright to me.
