I'm wondering if you guys like the value here for the Suns.

A healthy baron and camby wouldn't make me cry. Emphasis on healthy.

I'm listening . . .

I just posted this idea on the trade board, but I was wondering if the Suns wanted more, then maybe adding in the Thornton for Rolo/#14 swap might work.

Clippers Get: Dampier/Nash
Clippers Give: B. Davis/Camby

Suns Get: B. Davis/Camby/Stackhouse(cut)
Suns Give: Shaq/Nash

Mavs Get: Shaq
Mavs Give: Stackhouse/Dampier

Eh....Nash>Davis both as a player and as a contract, so I don't think there's any way Sarver/Kerr sign off on this.

If the end result was Calderon/Camby + Toronto's pick I would probably do it. Baron's contract is brutal, even though I have a soft spot for him.

Frank Lee wrote:If we re-ink Nash to a 3 yr deal at 8, 9, and 10 mill, I think RSarver would save close to 10 million. (5 in salary, and 5 in lux tax) Nash would essentially make 14 mill for playing 2 more yrs past this season. He would also be easier to trade mid season.

Is my thinking correct ?

Certainly is my friend. The only minor adjustment that could be made would be to front load it as much as possible to get as close to the tax threshold as possible without going over it, and decrease it over time (ie Hinrich/ Camby).

So say if we made the Shaq for Chandler/ filler trade and shaved a few dollars of with a Richardson trade that somehow reduced salary - we could make it $10m/ $9m/ $8m over 3 years so long as we went right up to the tax in the first year (helping us in subsequent years) but not over it!

Make sense?

Shaq for Chandler/Peterson/#21

Saves the Hornets a boatload of cash in the long term. Suns get some defensive presence in the front court, and some backup depth at the SG

Amare/#14/Tucker for Noah/Tyrus/Deng

Amare gives the a power up front. he compliments Miler better than Thomas. With Salmos playing the way he does, Deng moves to the bench for them. Dropping his contract helps them also in the long run. Of course Amare would have to agree to an extension with the bulls first, and be completely healthy

Chandler/Noah
Tyrus/Amundson/Lopez
Deng/Hill/Dudley
Richardson/Barbossa/Peterson
Nash/Dragic/#21

I really think you need to get the pieces around a PHX-NOH-DAL threeway and cross your fingers.

PHX
Gets: Chandler, Howard
Gives: O'Neal, Tucker

NOH
Gets: Dampier, Tucker
Gives: Chandler

DAL
Gets: O'Neal
Gives: Dampier, Howard

Picks and Cash where necessary. I don't know how NOH feels about Posey or any other contract (forget Stojakovic), but they might be able to work out a way to get something else off of NOHs books.

In reference to the above:

PG - Nash/Dragic
SG - Richardson/Barbosa
SF - Hill/Howard/Dudley
PF - Stoudemire/Amundson
C - Chandler/Lopez

It looks like it would be a demotion for Howard, but it would be more like an early sub in situation with Hill coming out early. Having two guys (Barbosa, Howard) that can score lights-out for the second unit would be amazing.

Why would Clips do that? They are already stacked in the front court. Al Thorton is already a very good player.

Instead of this deal, how about Al Thornton for Tucker/Dudley/#14?

I think Thornton belongs and would maximize his abilities in the Suns' system.

There's no way the Clipps deal Thornton for 3 career bench players.

that looks pretty sound to me. Suns might have to throw something Dallas' way though.

as for some of the previous posts: You cant trade Nash to the clips, its just wrong, dont do him like that. He deserves more respect than to be sent to hell, get what you can get from a team of his choice......keep him......or just let him walk.(you can also trade the peices you get for him, but dont screw him like that)...... You cant possibly expect to be able to trade Shaq and Tucker, and get back Quality players like Howard, and Chandler, Memphis is the only team to give a player away for a yo-yo and a stick of gum, everyone else in the NBA needs something in return....... There is NO! WAY!! someone put that Grant Hill would be a starter over Howard, wow, im a Suns fan and a Grant Hill fan but he is old, limit his mins from off the bench in the scenerio of getting howard.........(Above), WHO THE HELL IS ROLO???...........Yes to Sucker.. I mean Tucker, Dudley for Thornton, if simply not to trade him for bigger fish ( Jeff Green OKC, Shane Battier Huston) or to be there if you get a good trade proposal for Amare. The NBA is like a box of chocolates you never know what trades or cast offs you are gonna get.
