3-0 now, this game looks to be in the bag. But who knows.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!

Re: GO CAPS!!!!
Ugh I hate having to watch the game with the Caps announcers...they're so obnoxious. During the regular season they were okay, but now they've really turned on the homerism. But then again I probably think this just because we're losing and I have to listen about all of our mistakes when I know what he's saying is true.

I hope we never see Nylander on the ice in a Caps sweater again. Shelf him for the playoffs and find some sucker team to take him this summer!

Varlamov wagon, taking passengers!
Great job at crashing the net tonight. Lundqvist was uncomfortable all game.

Varlamov is the ****. 56/57. This might've been Backstrom's best game as a Cap. He was unreal tonight. Semin of course is turning it on just like he did last year. Can't wait to see Game 4. Props to Poth and Erskine. Both are playing exceptional hockey so far this series. Green, wtf? Get it together man.

Green has to be injured. He's insanely ineffective and he was a lot better against a tougher opponent.

and John Erskine = Sean Avery's daddy. I'm absolutely loving what Big John is doing this playoffs. I wasn't a big fan of his but he's won over my respect. The perfect in your face type guy.

Re: GO CAPS!!!!
What a shame. They score on a flukey deflection and Ovie hits a post.
Is it possible that playing with Nylander too much this year turned Feher and Flash into complete pussies? Those guys were awful again tonight. I have no idea what Bruce was doing with Flash with the top PP unit for so much of the game.
Bummer city.

once reason i like basketball better than hockey is because is there is too much luck in hockey. The better team in this series has been the CAPS by a ton and we are down 3-1

Re: GO CAPS!!!!
I feel bad for Varly, i mean he should be undefeated right now, seriously, the only goals scored against him in this series have been fluke goals, except for the first one in game 2, which he had no chance.
Go back to the regular season, the only game he lost was in overtime and three of the goals were basically scored on by our own team...
For some weird reason i still believe we can rally and start by giving the Rangers a whooping at home, then beating them in NY like we did with PHilly last year. And i guarantee that if we got a game 7 this time, we would win.

Yup true that. Today's game should have been a 3-1 Capitals win. First goal was totally fluke. A perfect deflection from Erskines stick. Give me a break
btw screw half the forwards on this team. Flash and Fehr need to be traded ASAP before their value plummets completely. Dump these bums and call up Aucoin, Bouchard and Osala. I'm really high on Osala. The guy is a tough SOB, crashes the net and has really soft hands and a wicked wrister. Basically everything Fehr needs to be. It makes me so mad to know that we could have had Jeff Carter, Mike Richards or Ryan Getzlaf. Fehr was drafted between Zach Parise and Ryan Getzlaf. How we ended up with this scrub between a sandwich of all stars is amazing. Aucoin was really impressive, why McFail sent him back to Hershey is beyond me. He could easily be centering the 3rd line and actually providing a lift with his speed and scrappy play.

I'll always be a hoops guy first, but I'm not buying this at all. Caps didn't do the things they did in Game 3 to win the game. No one made contact with Lundqvist, no one crashed the net. No one created -- let alone cashed in on -- chances from outside the top two lines. GOA was right; it's the difference between regular season and playoff hockey.
And at least in hockey the officiating doesn't cater so heavily to superstars that the ourcomes feel predetermined. Every game you watch Wade, Lebron or Kobe play, there will be at least 3 or 4 outright phantom calls that will make you roll your eyes.

Well, Ovie hit the post at least twice by my count. One of those goes in and we're talking about how superstars carry otherwise poorly performing teams on their back, instead of how the team didn't do what it needed to do.
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

Re: GO CAPS!!!!
I'm not denying Ovie's effort or that the bounces didn't go the Caps way -- even though we seemed to get the benefit of the officiating. I'm saying the overall team effort wasn't as physical and relentless as it was in Game 3.

Re: GO CAPS!!!!
Fehr has been absolutely worthless this series. Bring up Aucoin. He is exactly what this team needs on the 3rd and 4th lines. He'll muck it up. And yeah Gil, I can't wait for Osala to get his shot on this team. I too have very high hopes for him. I EXPECT a game 6, I think the team will come out and dominate like they did Monday night. 3-1 to the freakin Rangers? If it weren't for Lundy, we're getting ready for the 2nd round.

Re: GO CAPS!!!!
Lundvist has made a handful of great saves but we've barely challenged him all series. He has no screens in front of him, no one hacking at him with cheap shots and he's getting shots from point blank range + a lot of the shots are already weakened when they get to him.
Also the lack of centers, look at how dominant this team looks with Backstrom and how awful it looks with just about everyone else. Just a poorly composed roster. I hope Aucoin gets his shot at centering the third line... we could use more gritty players who play with fire like him.

Re: GO CAPS!!!!
The first 2 games I would agree that the Caps were hardly challenging him. The third game we did, and of course look how it turned out. Last night, yeah they reverted back to Game 1 and 2 for the first 30 minutes. After that 2nd goal they woke up and started really testing Lundy. He had quite a few excellent saves, one was on an Ovechkin shot where he fell backwards. Anyway, not sure what Boudreau was thinking having Flash out their on the first 5 pp's. Laich should've been out there for the first 5 instead of finally getting out there on the 6th try with the 1st unit. Poor, poor mistakes. Oh well, hell of a shot by Ovechkin last night and he was possessed, hopefully it spills over to Game 5 and potentially Game 6 and 7.
