Playoff Game #3: Hawks (1-1) @ Heat (1-1)

Post#1 » by ATL DirtyBird » Thu Apr 23, 2009 3:31 am

The official make or break thread right here! Win and were in good shape, lose and get ur tickets for Cancun. I dont feel very confident about the rebound game right here but who ever knows with this team. Keep in mind the Heat will not shoot that amazing again this series.

I don't think Game 3 is do or die. I wouldn't want to lose game 3 and think it's all over now. I mean I want to win every game, but we can survive to win the series if we win either 3 or 4 to bring the series back even. Winning both would be great, but one thing at a time. Let's win another game and then worry about it after that.

SneakerKing... you sound like a typical Hawks fan... you love them when they are winning, but hate them when they loose. I think its absurd that you are calling JJ a choke artist for having a bad game. He had a few bad calls against him... he was on the bench for most of the third quarter. I think Miami just out played us, out rebounded us, and shot better than us.

I think for game 3 we have to set the tone early... stay out foul trouble, make our free throws and rebound. I don't think Miami will shoot this well from the 3 point line... but I could be wrong. D-wade is going get his offensively... we should limit his supporting cast. I thought ATL would destroy MIA at Phillips... but I was wrong. I hope we can take this game in MIA.

hawks have got to limit the heat role/scrub players in this game. JO and cook should not be anywhere near the 20 pt mark.

Obviously the number one goal is to go home with the series tied but I definitely think there is a great chance that game 3 will decide the series. I think it's very important to never trail in the series. Boston last year could not break through vs two mediocre teams on the road but they took care of their business at home. Then they lost the second at home in the Detroit series. This was the first time in the playoffs that they felt like they had to win on the road and getting that 1st one out the way ASAP to go back up in the series was a huge confidence booster for them the rest of the playoffs.

If the Hawks credit the 10 win improvement this year by what happened in the playoffs last year then hopefully we will look back and see that they learned how to play on the road by winning this crucial game 3 in Miami :D

I said before the series started that I thought Horford was going to be the key player for the Hawks. When he gets outplayed by JO it changes the series an incredible amount.

Al was not just outplayed, he was DESTROYED. And JJ needs to start showing people why he's a 3 time all-star. He's been horrible so far this series.

^^^ Someone needs to coach Joe up on how to get to the line. He has great ball skills and can get to the cup, but other than the floater he likes to shoot he is not very effective when he gets into the paint. He needs to learn to go up strong, draw contact, and get to the foul line more often. It's very frustrating to watch him get into a good position and wind up taking a difficult shot rather than going up strong.

huh, just a sugestion, but you don't have to put (1-1) on the subject line. it is kind of redundant and confusing. might just be better to tally the wins for each team.

Playoff Game #3: Hawks (1) @ Heat (1)

but anyway, lets just keep up the good defence. Hawks points in the paint allowed is still good in both games.

make Wade into a shooter and not a passer..... and most importantly go after Wade's defence (Wade picked up 5 fouls in game 2), hit him with some pump fakes, make him go up into the air, and make Joe and Marvin post him up.

Marvin need to play more than 19 minutes in order to pull a road win.

I was very disappointed in the way the Hawks approach this game. Different than us, most teams can and know how to play with a sense of urgency. We deserved to lose. Beasley schooled Smith, which made the Hawks double team and then it was a 3pt contest for the Heat, most of them wide open. JJ had a horrible game. My only problem with him is, he's got to score on guys like Jones, Moon. Wade killed us when Evans or Murray were on him. I really doubt the Hawks have changed a lot from last season playoffs and the current season on the road. I'll be very surprised if we can get a win specially in game 3, since it's the home opener for the Heat. Just one more thing, I wish Marvin had at least half of Beasley's confidence and drive to be a star.
GO HAWKS.

Actually no. I love them at all times, ill just be the first one to point out what they are doing wrong. I have stated in the other thread that we got outplayed by far waht are you talking about. Joe has missed some big shots over the season idk what ur talking about. Josh is a cry baby do u not watch hawks basketball? He complains about ever call. Joe had a bad 2 months, thats pathetic. Ur an all star. Dont come at me sideways with that stuff.

Ur right its no do or die, but this game is quite crucial in my opinion. I truly dont think we have the poise and maturity to come back from 2-1 to win the series. I think its possible but I wouldnt bet on it. I dont know how the Hawks will react after that lost and espcially in Miami where its gonna be loud for the home opener.

I'm not so sure about that. This is the playoffs, so every game matters, and if we don't win game three our chances drastically decrease at going to the second round. It's a damn shame we didn't win game two and now it's difficult to trust this team since they're so inconsistent. If we win game three we can deal with some mistakes during game four.

I never said anything about Josh... I just said its unfair that you called Joe Johnson a choke artist.... Josh is a baby... without a doubt... I was just referring to the Joe comment. There are many games Joe has been clutch for us... Its unfair to call Joe a choke artist after one game.

Tides have turned now that we are on the road.

Miami's favored to win by 4 points. O/U 185.

Someone mentioned that Murray attempted more shots than JJ. That shouldn't happen in a playoff game.

And Murray needs to put on his head band. He sucks w/o it.

The same can be mentioned for Josh Smith who attempted 14 field goal during game two. Obviously that includes his dunks too. If Joe's going to shy from taking the lead on this team someone will have to step up. Flip Murray and Mike Bibby are the only true shooters we have left since Marvin's minutes have been limited. I would like to see Joe attempt between 15 to 20 field goals per game, so I'm not sure why he only attempted 13 during game two.

The free throw shooting also needs to be mentioned. Joe missed four and I believe he missed a couple after Miami's three second call on defense. If Joe can't take advantage of these calls we need someone else on the line for us.
