KG! might give it a try in GAME 5.

Post#1 » by DieselCeltic » Thu Apr 23, 2009 1:21 pm

Just heard Mike & Mike on ESPN...and they say several sources close to KG! think he will give it a shot game 5 - the latest 2nd round if they advance. Apparently KG is seeking advice from medical staff outside the Celtics organization and there's a few remedies that could help him return for the playoffs. If this goes unsucessfull, KG will have surgery sometimes in May.

Take this with a grain of salt....

the funny thing is I woke up this morning convinced that KG would play in the playoffs. Then on the way to work I passed Garnet St and I took it as an omen. Who knows what will happen but I've said for awhile that it ( the tendon problem) might go away just like it came. You never know. I've pretty much written us off as far as winning a championship but with scal coming back and maybe KG who knows? I'll say this, if KG were to return it would be an immense shot in the arm not only in terms of talent but also in terms of attitude, swagger and confidence.

By source you mean Boston Celtic Ticket Office. But seriously that would be about two weeks since he last gave it a try but at this point I would hold him out for Game 7 or an elimination game. What is the point of winning game 5 to not have him for 6 and 7?

All the trash he was talking on the sidelines and the faces and all that you have to expect him to try, but I can't say I expect it to end well.

I wouldn't play KG unless the Celtics made it to the Conference Finals.

Why not? If he cannot do any further damage, play him. Every time a player steps on the floor they could suffer a serious injury. You can't play in fear. They, in no way, would endanger him long term.

Why should KG risk further injury just so we can beat the Bulls and get to the second round? High risk, low reward, if you ask me...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

If KG pulls a Leon Powe then you are screwed for next season and beyond. Not worth the risk. IMO.

That could happen at anytime to any player. One injury has nothing to do with the other.

I and I guess KG trust the team doctors and KG's doctors. Rest is what was needed for the tendon strain problem and if he can go and wants to....do it. The surgery is a scoping for the spur and I am guessing a minor one. They know what they are doing.

But KG's already fragile/damaged knee is much more susceptible to further injury, is it not?

KG your my boy since ever since you played high school basketbal in Chicago. I remember when people would say who is this kid from SC balling on the south side. So I know your a gamer and it hurts you that your wont be able to play in a play-off game in Chicago for the people who welcome you into their city. I know you want to play for the fans of Boston and try to win another championship for yourself, teammates and the city. But I don't it worth it, if there is any question or doubt about you doing more damage to your knee or even your other knee don't do it. You have next season to look forward too. Just use your time and energy on cheering for your teammates. I don't want you to come back if your not 100% healthy.

I'm not too surprised. But I think it might also depend on the outcome of games 3 and 4.

Our current window will not be open for long. LBJ is just scary good and you know will be much better next season. If KG wants to come back and team Doctors give him the green light we go for it. If there was a coin where one side represented KG back at a difference making level and the other was he is out till next Dec, I think you flip that coin. There are only so many more times we will be in position to win a title with this group. You have to go for it if you can. Now if this is all talk than its all talk.

That's the thing KG has gone outside of the team doctors. The team doctors told him to shut it down and get surgery. KG wants to play so he seeking other medical treatment outside of the team doctors. I just wish KG get the surgry and come back next season healthy.

No, KG was looking to get surgery, and the team asked him to wait because the recovery time was not that long where it would affect next year.

Thats not completely accurate. If the injury has caused a weakness in the knee, or an instability, he would be at risk for further injury. Additionally if he is compensating by putting more pressure on the good knee, then he is at risk for stress type injury on that knee.

If it was just pain they were worried about - KG would be out there playing. They need to make sure the knee is healthy enough so as to not cause KG further injury.

Can anyone else confirm the fact that they reported this possibility on Mike and Mike?
Why won't they pass the ball?
