Geez, you guys gotta relax. I'm sure glad Roy isn't as thin-skinned as you guys. I recall a couple of starts ago, Doc gave up a weak, opposite field grounder single, with no one on base. It was a nothing hit. But Doc was PISSED OFF on the mound. Yelling at himself.
He demands perfection out of himself. It's what makes him so good. I know he wants to win. I know he wants to be the leader of not just the pitching staff, but the whole team. In previous years, the team would fall apart when he wasn't starting. But this year, the team is actually winning when he doesn't start. You KNOW Doc wants to take advantage of this.
This is why I love the guy> It's why he's the best pitcher in baseball. His attitude is it's not good enough for individual stats. Strikeouts don't mean anything. They're a waste of pitches. Groundball outs mean quicker innings and more innings pitched. Dude pitches for the team.
Doc needs fans that want to win as much as he does.

And who doesn't want to win here? I'm just saying it's silly to say "if Doc isn't getting his job done" because frankly, so far this year he has been getting it done. And if he continues the trend of 3 or 4 wins every 4 or 5 outings, than at the end of the season, Doc will have a typical Doc year.
Cito said that Doc will have these outings as well. This has nothing to do with us not wanting to win as much as he does. Doc can set the bar for himself pretty god damn high, but it doesn't mean we as fans have to, because those expectations are not based in reality. Going 30-0 is not possible. That can be Doc's standard, but it would be dumb for fans to expect that.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

I think Doc wants to win home games. And any games when his team gives him more than a couple of runs. And especially games where he falls behind and the team comes back. And especially against his nemesis the Rangers. haha
Let's all just chillax!! Perhaps we made up for Tuesday with last night's victory.
Of course, now with Romero injured, where do we take this thread?

Putting Halladay and BJ Ryan in the same sentence like that was just ridiculous, though. That's what my problem was.

I just want to add, every game Roy Halladay pitches for the Jays makes me smile and be thankful he's on our team. It's like watching Clemens back in his days with us, or Maddux on Atlanta, etc. He's that good. That sinker is one of the nastiest go-to pitches I've ever seen.

Just because I like arguing....but I'd say his sinker (the one that moves down and right) is the worst of his 3 main pitches. His cut fastball and curve are the better pitches, IMO.

I'm not sure any of his pitches are great to admire, like the old Dave Stieb slider. Roy just seems to hit the right spots, with the right movement, to screw hitters up. Unlike a strikeout pitcher, he's not going to a certain "out" pitch.

I could never criticize Doc, just because if you know how hard he works at his pitching, you know he's going to be hard enough on himself after the last game. He's the hardest worker on the Jays and always puts in the extra hours of practice.
We all know what we're going to get from Doc all year long. He's one of the best, and he'll be ready for his next start.

the dude is soooooooo intense (KG-lite intense?) and he's so humble at the same time. Have you heard his interview with Wilner, about the "10 questions"? They asked him what was his most memorable moment during that almost no-hitter against the Tigers a few years ago...... do you know what his response was? It had nothing to do with him.. he said the ovations that were given to each player as they left the field during the 8th/9th inning..... talk about a true team player.

Yeah, Doc is basically the greatest person in the world. Maybe ever.
