Sloan has left the building!!!!

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Wed Apr 22, 2009 4:11 pm

I would assume Sloan is gone after this year. Larry Miller not there to save his ass. He is old as smoke and even admits he is slowing down. I do not think Jazz would spend alot of money on a new coach so who is it going to be???

Phil Johnson is a good possibility as he is there, knows the players, knows the system, and would be cheap BUT brings same old thing as Sloan and he is an old coach lacking innovation.

Tyrone Corbin is a young coach with fire who is cheap and knows the players BUT lacks experience and has been brainwashed by Sloan. I think Jazz management go with him. I just hope he is his own guy and not a Sloan wannabe.

Mark Few (Gonzaga coach) is the type of young coach Jazz should be looking at BUT he wont come cheap.

Avery Johnson would be an interesting choice BUT lacked success in Dallas and burnt bridges.

Karl Malone is a fan favorite BUT not the brightest apple in the bunch and would be a bad choice.

John Stockton would be interesting choice BUT lacks experience and may not have desire to put in the time necessary therefore.

I thought they signed him to another 1 year contract?

I would like to see Avery Johnson, or a combo of Corbin/Horny/Stockton once Sloan calls it quits. I think Johnson will more then likely go when Sloan does but he may stick around for a few years.

Yeah we definitely can't go with Corbin because he has been "brainwashed" by Sloan. So we should probably get rid of everyone else who has been brainwashed by Sloan. So we need to get rid of Millsap, Harpring, Korver, Brewer, Collins, and Williams. That should just about rid us of every player that has been "brainwashed" into becoming better players than they probably would've otherwise, by Sloan. That leaves us with Boozer, Memo, Ak, Miles, and Fesenko. Those are the type of players that refuse to buy into what Sloan is teaching or "brainwashing". Personally I think I would rather go with "brainwashed" hustlers than Self-absorbed, money-grubbing slacks. With the exception of AK. For heavens sake Collins plays with more fire on D than Memo and Boozer combined... which is sad cuz when it comes to "fire on D" with Collins he is barely sputtering a spark. All of you Sloan/Harpring haters are gonna be singing a different tune when Sloan leaves and we wind up with a total hack of a coach. Look around the league. How many times does a coach come into a new team without any roster changes and make that team better. It happens but not nearly as often as a new coach coming to an old team and bombing the season like Pearl Harbor. I agree Sloan is reaching the end of his rope and the Jazz should start molding someone to take over but this "brainwash" talk just makes people sound stupid. Like Deron Williams is the Manchurian Candidate or something. Sloan has spent his entire coaching career brainwashing nobodies into solid performers. Why would anyone complain about that? Here is the real problem that no one seems to be addressing. We NEED to make a change and that change is... the Jazz Bear. He has got to go!!!!! Every time I go to a game he's always brainwashing me into cheering and fighting over mini footballs. He brainwashes little children into playing silly half time games. He even brainwashes HIMSELF into sliding head first down a flight of stairs on a snow sled to pump up the crown to in turn pump up our players!!!! This is unacceptable behavior!!!! Oh and also what about our fans!!! They have got to go!!!! They are ruining this team by brainwashing Jazz players into playing well at home! You all should be ashamed of yourselves... disgusting!

I know Sloan signed another one year contract, but if you were in his position, would you want to enter another period of time rebuilding?

This is going to be a different Jazz team next year, and unless KOC has some big plans to completely reshape the Jazz like the Celtics did last season, they are going to be rebuilding.

Sloan got his HOF bid, he got his 1,000 wins with one team, and the Jazz still look a ways away from a championship.

I wouldn't be surprised if he shut it down this off season, and if he does it goes to Horny or Ty.

All of the deaths in his life are taxing, and losing LHM who really had his back has to make the entire culture of his job different.

Man I know I am new here and as I see you are too, but could you possibly break your posts up into paragraphs? That is way too hard to read. I only read the first sentence and gave up.

You really should try "wading" through it as he has a valid point. I am not a big Sloan fan but I do think that he brings the best out of most players. My "beef" with him is that I think that a valuable system needs to have some room for tweaking/updating. I think that Sloan should hang it up as well but I think that the coaching should be kept in house unless Coach K wants to step into the NBA. My vote would be for Corbin or Hornacek.

On another note QuantumMacguyver it does help to break up your posts.

I would love Phil Johnson to at least coach one season.

After watching Phil Johnson lose us that Timberwolves game I have 0 faith in him. His substitutions were awful and his play calling was very poor.

Phil Johnson is older than Sloan and he has had a failed headd coaching experience in his past. He is not the future of the Jazz.

They talked about this on 1320 Kfan this morning and I cant remember who it was but they made the point of people keep calling for change in the coaching to bring something new and exciting not just the same old same old system Sloan runs...but which teams win championships? The Suns never won with the run-n-gun system Dantoni has, Golden State (the poor mans PHX/NY) has never done anything except upset Dallas. The teams that win chapionships are the teams who run the same simple system thats proven to work. Spurs, and Lakers are good examples. They still have old man Pop and old man Phil running those teams and even Boston and the Cavs run pretty boring systems but they work.

I say keep Sloan as long as possible.

Just accept the truth about Sloan's legacy-nine first round playoff exits and no championships.

I stopped reading when you listed Mark Few of Gonzaga as one of your top choices to replace Sloan.

You, sir... haven't a clue.

Sloan is gonna be there for a while yet and when he goes Johnson will take his place.

They may trade for Iverson, get Shaq and get a new coaching team to help once they've gotten Chris Paul but failing that they'll stay put.

As a team we don't like change.

Sorry, but your argument fails when you consider that in 20+years sloan hasn't won a championship. The reason why teams stick with pop and phil for as many years as they have is because they win championships, simple as that.
