I hope we bring him back next year, as a big man defensive assistant or something. Wave his finger in the bench isn't too bad either.

Houston is where the superstars go at the end of their careers to retire

Clyde Drexler
Charles Barkley
Elvin Hayes
Rick Barry
Eddie Johnson
Cedric Maxwell
Charles Oakley
Dikembe Mutombo
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

I hope Yao Ming wags his finger every time he blocks a shot - as a tribute to Deke.

Yao would be hit with 2 technicals immediately after a finger wag and thrown out of the game. The refs hate him remember?

It's sad to see him ending his career like this. :wavefinger: Great player and great person.

Who had a better NBA career: Dikembe or Alonzo Mourning?
They were teammates at Georgetown with Dike coming out in 1991 and Zo in 1992.
Zo retired on January 22, 2009, Dike April 22. Will they go into the HOF together in 2014?

Dike won 4 DPOY awards, Zo won it twice.
Dike led the NBA in blocks 5 times. Zo led it twice.
Dike led the NBA in rebounds twice. Zo was only in the top 10 rebounders twice (#6, #8)
Dike was an 8 time All Star, Zo seven times.
Dike went the the finals twice. Zo went to 1 final but won a ring as Shaq's backup.

Career stats:
Dike 9.8 ppg < Zo 17.1 ppg
Dike 10.3 rpg > Zo 8.5 rpg
Dike 2.7 bpg < Zo 2.8 bpg (this was surprising)
Dike 51.8%FG < Zo 52.7%FG
Dike 68.4%FT < Zo 69.2%FT

Dike finished 2nd all time in blocks at 3,289. Zo finished 10th with 2,356 blocks.
Dike finished 17th all time in rebounds at 12,359. Zo finished 79th at 7,137 rebounds

The Rockets need to bring him back in some sort of capacity after this season.

Nothing but love for Deke. Even before he was a rocket he was always one of my favorite players on and off the court. Cant say enough about this guy, probably doesnt have an enemy in the world and its truely sad to know he will not be stepping on the court again.

Unfortunately he doesnt have the smoothest voice so i think commentating is out of the picture lol. But he really provides enlightenment for anybody he is around and the rockets organization will hopefully do whatever it takes to keep him around. It really sucks to see him go down especially in the playoffs uve got to wonder how long this guy would have played if he didnt get injured. Definately wish him the best and watching the rockets wont be as much fun without him
