Pacer's Final +/- 2008/09

http://www.nba.com/pacers/news/plus_minus_0809.html

Foster had the best +/- of all the Pacers, and was +92 for the season. He was +2.4 PPG for the season. The only other player with a positive +/- was Granger, being +59. Stephen Graham was about even. The bottom 4 were Roy Hibbert, TJ Ford, Rasho, and last in the +/- (but first in many of our hearts, now) is Brandon Rush with -175, -2.3 points per game.

The Pacers finished -91, and average of about -1.1 per game.

So what does this tell us? Isn't it obvious, Stephen Graham is our 3rd best player! Really it shows how great Granger is (in my opinion) and how underrated Foster is. With Granger we are about +1 PPG, or about 2 points better when Granger is playing. Also, rookies on a losing team are rarely going to have a positive +/-. While Rush did have a team worst, we clearly saw a lot of improvement. I don't have his #s as a starter at this time. Both of our rookies had a pretty big chunk of minutes/experience, and I expect both players (especially Rush) to be much improved next year.

Edit: Also, last year Granger had the team's WORST +/- (-149; team was actually positive w/o him, but he was playing all the big minutes against the best players). Great to see him improve so much, especially playing against starters all the time. Diogu was -8.3 per game, eeeek. Granger was also the worst in 06/07, -144, and 2nd worst, ahead of only David Harrison at -45, in 05/06.

+/- is deceptive, I am not a huge fan of it. Adjusted +/- is better. Still, I'm not surprised that Foster was tops.

If Dunleavy was healthy it would be:

Diener/Rush or Quis/Graham/McBob/Rasho, nasty.
